DescriptionThe growth of our presence in the Oregon market has created an opportunity for a Professional and Private Banking Team Leader. The position will serve the Portland Metropolitan market and manages a team responsible for marketing and growing a portfolio of client relationships including professional services firms in disciplines such as accounting, law, architectural and engineering as well as a broad array of healthcare providers. Additionally, they provide sales management, support and decision making for the team to attain goals, assure prompt communication of Bank, Division and Market strategies, and adhere to loan policies, procedures, laws and applicable regulations. They are responsible for the daily oversight and administration of workflow of the team. The team leader sets performance goals, monitors and reviews goal progress quarterly. They will be responsible for conducting annual performance reviews, identifying career development plans and coaching to providing exceptional client service and relationship building activities.Essential Functions Performs risk management and business development functions:

  • The role approves credit requests within designated lending authority and recommends larger commitments in conjunction with our business model.
  • Delegates appropriate lending authority to relationship managers and works closely with them in the analysis, structuring and pricing of more unique credit requests.
  • Ensures adherence to credit policies and rate guidelines so that loan quality and profitability standards are met.
  • Directly administers a portfolio composed of selected key customers, including larger, more complex credit relationships.
  • Functions as the sales manager for the team and organizes, coordinates and actively participates in the team's business development activities, ensuring prospect and customer call plans are developed and implemented.
  • Heavy involvement in community activities is required and may include evenings and weekends.
  • Conducts customer and prospect calls individually and jointly with other team relationship officers to enhance existing relationships and attract new customers.
  • Ensures that the business development and product knowledge training needs of the team are met.
  • Acts as liaison and collaborates with other departments and regions to ensure the retention of relationships maintained and to ensure that cross sale opportunities are maximized. Performs a variety of managerial functions:
    • Develops the credit, customer relations, and business development skills of the relationship officers through a combination of goal setting, delegation, training, counseling and performance assessments, communicates and interprets bank guidelines, policies and programs, including the officer extra compensation plan.
    • Participates in formulating short and long-range team plans and evaluating the team organization structure and operating procedures.
    • Keeps current on new financing products, methods and techniques, key industry trends and conditions and changes in laws, regulatory policies and accounting procedures.
    • Allocates the number of borrower and prospective borrower relationships assigned to each relationship officer to assure adequate time for a high level of customer service, timely credit submissions and officer calls.
    • Monitors administrative activities of team members to assure minimal risk to Bank.Requirements
      • Minimum of 10 years of professional, private or commercial banking experience.
      • Strong business development and sales management experience and skills. Strong professional network within the market area.
      • Sound credit judgment and strong underwriting skills.
      • Strong people management techniques and knowledge of Bank personnel policies and procedures.
      • Strong, well-developed interpersonal skills to maximize business contacts and develop working relationships with bank clients and internal business partners.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
      • High level of analytical skill to conduct loan analysis, monitor loan progress in consideration of market trends, credit/interest rates, economic conditions, etc.
      • Strong knowledge of the credit and non-credit financial needs of many types of businesses.
