Overview
This is a remote position open to incumbents who reside in Oregon or Washington only. - There may be occasional situations that require work to be performed on-site at an assigned Legacy Health location. -All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork. -
The senior consultant, executive total rewards ensures Legacy Health can attract, retain and engage top executive talent with an innovative and equitable total rewards program. They are a subject matter expert and individual contributor within the Total Rewards center of excellence, which comprises two teams-compensation and benefits. This experienced consultant provides strategic guidance and administers all aspects of executive compensation and benefit plans, in partnership with colleagues in People & Culture (HR), Legal, Finance and other key areas. This professional works extensively with Legacy's chief people & culture officer, Legacy's chief executive officer and Legacy's external executive compensation consultants in support of the organization's board compensation committee, in addition to internal executive committees. They provide strategic insight and counsel to other People & Culture leaders to position Legacy as an employer of choice for executives and to inform talent management (recruitment, retention, succession planning) and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategies. Executive total rewards programs are defined as, but not limited to, health and welfare (3rd party administration, defined contribution, defined benefit, benefits, deferred compensation, retention, restoration, retirement, and compensation (pay practices, performance standards, titling guidelines, market survey processes, etc.). Executive is defined as vice president level roles and above.

As the largest nonprofit health system serving the Portland-Southwest Washington and mid-Willamette Valley areas, Legacy Health provides a range of services - we have six hospitals, one of which includes a center solely dedicated to children's care, Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. Responsibilities
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Designs, implements, and administers executive total rewards program aligned with industry standards. Legacy's strategic goals and total rewards philosophy with guidance from Legacy's board compensation committee and management compensation committee. -
  • Works in partnership with the VP of People Services & Total Rewards and the Chief People & Culture Officer to set the strategy, guidelines, policies, and practices for executive total rewards.
  • Ensures that executive total reward program is market competitive, compliant, equitable and aligned with the organization's total rewards philosophy. Stays current with market and industry trends and leverages that data to inform executive total rewards program design.
  • Provides support, tools and counsel to the CEO, SVP of People & Culture and VP of Talent Management on a cohesive, equitable and inclusive total rewards strategy that supports recruitment, career advancement, and succession planning. - -
  • Advises and supports internal compensation and benefit oversight committees, and ensures deliverables align with customer needs, market trends, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports Legacy's Board Compensation Committee's annual work plan and associated agenda planning through developing materials, providing analysis, collecting content from other subject matter experts, and placing the material in a format that supports the board's fiduciary responsibility.
  • Partners with external executive compensation consultants to create benchmarking exhibits of CEO and executive pay levels; supports executive offers, severance packages and pay recommendations. Supports annual reasonableness opinion by providing up-to-date information on system and site revenues, current pay for key executives and scope of duties.
  • Partners with external executive compensation consultants, the CEO and the SVP, Chief People & Culture Officer, to develop, codify and track incentive goals, metrics and performance. Collaborates with internal experts on the design and then with management audit and payroll on validating outcomes and processing payouts.
  • Tracks exceptions to total rewards approach or program, including 990 reporting, and prepares reports to share with the board compensation committee.
  • Consults with business leaders and HR Business Partners, People Strategy Consultants, Talent Acquisition Recruiters and Hiring Managers on developing competitive offer packages for executives. Review executive offer packages to ensure competitiveness and compliance with governance guidelines.
  • Analyzes executive-level jobs, salaries, benefits, and incentives to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance.
  • Performs thorough, complex analysis, complete with clear findings and recommendations for all elements of executive total rewards based on market and organizational information.
  • May provide financial analysis support to management, along with program leads and/or managers, utilizing knowledge of various workforce data, interpreting total rewards financial and program information.
  • Supports Total Rewards Leaders and operational leaders through developing, auditing and monitoring Provider Total Rewards programs. - Maintain records of and inventory for employment agreements / arrangements; create regular reporting to summarize current / historical executive total rewards data.
  • Provides analytical expertise in comprehensive financial and market forecasting, costing, and compensation program design and development. - Makes system-wide recommendations for changes and/or enhancements to current programs.
  • Works with the benefits manager to analyze, design, and prepare benefit plan information.
  • May be asked to support total reward program design, analysis or implementation for other stakeholders including other non-executive leaders.
    Qualifications
    Education:Requires a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting/Finance or a related field or equivalent experience. Master's degree in human resources management, finance or MBA preferred.
    Experience:Five years of relevant experience, with at least three years spent focused on executive compensation or total rewards required. Some knowledge of benefits preferred. Experience facilitating, leading, and managing complex, total rewards-related projects required. Non-profit healthcare or non-profit industry experience required. Experience building strong working relationships with senior leaders and board members required.
