General SummaryThe Chief Development officer is a member of the executive leadership team responsible for marketing and communication of agency mission to promote services and support resources. Responsible for development, design, direction and implementation of all fundraising initiatives including, but not limited to, major gifts, planned giving, annual campaign and special events. The Chief Development Officer is responsible for supervision, training and development of all assigned Development Staff. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Work in concert with the agency's Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and volunteers to identify, cultivate and personally solicit individuals and organizations with a capacity to make annual major gifts to meet or exceed strategic goalsImplement a comprehensive planned giving program; cultivate and solicit planned gifts to meet or exceed strategic goalsOversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to increase awareness and support for the agency's mission and services to meet or exceed strategic goalsProvide effective internal agency communications to staff, volunteers, donors and committees as well as external constituentsDevelop and implement a comprehensive resource development plan, including targeted annual growth in annual fund, special events, foundation and corporate support to meet or exceed strategic goalsProvide effective and inspiring leadership, collaboration and clear direction to department staffWork closely with the Chief Executive Officer and management team to strategically manage the development of agency resources and to enhance relationships with key donors, prospects and constituents to meet or exceed strategic goalsWork collaboratively with staff across the organization to cultivate and steward key stakeholder and donor relationships Develop and implement a structure, process, policies and procedures for proper handling of gifts including accounting, acknowledgement and reportingCultivate and establish dynamic committee leadership and support for planned giving, resource development, marketing and eventsResponsible for hiring, training, development, mentorship, supervision and evaluation of department staff; ensure that all department activities operate consistently and ethically within the vision, mission and values of Meals on Wheels PeopleResponsible for development and oversight of department budgetOther duties as assignedEducation & KnowledgeBachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or other related field Expert knowledge of effective fundraising strategies and industry trendsSkills, Abilities & ExperienceMuch be COVID 19 vaccinated. Five years progressively responsible experience and demonstrated successful track record in resource development and marketing, including direct mail, eMarketing, special events, and planned givingFive years successful experience in management and development of multiple staff members in a team-oriented environment.Demonstrated proven success in developing and managing fundraising programs and staffDemonstrated successful experience in personal cultivation and solicitation of major gifts, and development of planned giving programsExcellent verbal, written, public speaking and interpersonal skillsExcellent leadership skills, with the ability to engage staff, donors and volunteers from diverse backgroundsResponsive with great follow-through skills and ability to build trust and maintain constructive relationships across organizational boundariesAdvanced computer skills, with strong proficiency in database management. Knowledge of donor management systems required, knowledge of Raiser's Edge preferredVehicle required to perform job duties
