Sweet River Bamboo Preschool and Nursery Administrative Assistant Our Program Sweet River Bamboo Preschool & Nursery is a Certified home based Waldorf inspired program that runs year-round. We are Earth-oriented and focus on a rhythm based on Nature. Activities and practices that remind us of our ancient roots and communal ways are highlighted by a mixed-age, warm environment, lots of outside time, opportunities for creative expression and celebration of our individuality and collective existence.We are currently seeking an Administrative Assistant to support and nourish our 5 kinships in the NE Portland area. This candidate will help support the needs of our kinships by tracking their food and materials needs, communicating with lead and co-teachers about their kinships needs and running errands for the kinships, to ensure the that each kinship has what it needs to provide the nourishing care that SRB offers. Ideal candidate Be in CURRENT healthy physical, emotional and mental shapeBe punctual and dependableBe a good communicator and fluent in nonviolent communicationHave a regular CURRENT weekly practice that connects you to your mind/body/spirit. like yoga, singing, dancing, running, climbing, swimming, music making it doesn't matter what it is as long as it makes you feel alive, happy, nourished and is an established practiceHave healthy self care skillsHave a good sense of one's own body awareness (The non-verbal communication the very young child receives from its caregivers is so important.)Have an interest and appreciation for being part of a mindful school community. Job Description Hourly Pay $23Part or Full Time 25-40 hours per weekAccrued paid time offFlexible work weeks As an Administrative Assistant for SRB, the following skills are required- Warm and welcoming Open and giving personality Genuinely love and enjoy children Have awareness of child development Ability to communicate and work with community members effectively Be versed and/or have the ability to educate oneself in Waldorf, Reggio, Montessori and RIE. Experience working in a licensed childcare facility either home or center for at least 1500 hours in the last three years ( this requirement is flexible ) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage high stress and complex situations Must be computer and technologically literate Highly organized Good time management skills Reliable transportation for errands Interest in connecting children and adults to nature through art, ritual, celebrations and creativity Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree Interpersonal skills- With staff Have the ability to develop and maintain a positive relationship with all teachers in the kinships.Be able to organize, delegate and monitor completion of delegated tasks to any teachers that you have given tasks and responsibilities to to ensure follow through and understanding. With parents Ensure communication is clear, up to date, respectful and caring. With administration Be able to work well as a team, take instruction and be able to process information efficiently both verbally and written. With the Founder Understanding the director is part of a growing vision, that part of the job requirement is to be in alignment with that vision with a desire to support, strengthen and grow the program. Position Responsibilities- Ensure that the kinships have all of the materials they need (i.e. food for the week, art supplies, necessary documents.) Run errands for the kinships to gather their materials needed. Receive requests for materials from teachers through AnyList and email. General record keeping. Filling in as a Substitute when needed Certifications- You will need to be enrolled in the Central Background Registry before you begin. You must have this process started before you apply.
