Job Description:
Warner Pacific University invites enthusiastic and motivated
applicants for a full-time open rank faculty position starting on
August 1, 2023 to lead and develop fast growing Information
Technology/Cybersecurity program.
Warner Pacific University's Cybersecurity program was established
in 2020 which offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers the
general field of Information Technology and specific targeted
courses in Cybersecurity defense and offense. Students learn
through lectures and hands-on projects in a small cohort
arrangement to practice and perfect skills necessary for the
current and future demand of the industry. As part of the
curriculum, students will gain enough knowledge and skills to earn
industrial recognized certifications potentially after completion
of the degree program.
This position will report to the Dean of the Division of Natural
Sciences and Health and is responsible for teaching lower and upper
division courses as assigned, developing curriculum, and advising
students in the current Cybersecurity major.
Deadline for Application:Applications must be submitted by June 15,
2023 for primary consideration. The position will remain open until
filled and is subject to budget approval.
The successful candidate will be in charge of the program and have
full control of the lab setup and projects development and is
expected to improve the current established curriculum and to work
in a 4-week accelerated course environment.
This individual should be capable to quickly build connections with
students using strong interpersonal skills (including
approachability and empathy) to help students achieve learning
outcomes, should also be comfortable with being the first point of
contact to troubleshoot software or technical concerns for
students.
The successful candidate should be a good match to the WPU
Christ-centered, Urban, Diversify-serving, and Liberal Arts based
environment and have sufficient professional knowledge in the areas
of:
- Computer system administration
- Networking - routing and switching
- Virtualization of systems
- Cloud computing
- Practical cryptography
- Security frameworks such as ISO/NIST/COBIT/CIS
- Cybersecurity policies and strategies
- Cybersecurity defense and offense
Essential Functions:
To be an enthusiastic and motivated leader of the fast-growing
Cybersecurity and Information Technology program.
Teach, develop and supervise assigned Traditional and PGS
(Professional and Graduate Studies program) courses preparing
students for careers in fields related to IT and Cybersecurity.
Articulate and model current best practices in liberal arts
teaching.
Advise and mentor students in Cybersecurity major.
Review and develop curriculum for courses in IT/Cybersecurity.
Implement assessment tools for the Cybersecurity major.
Work collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
Understand and promote the mission, values, and core themes of
Warner Pacific University.
Exhibit excellent communication skills in all interactions with
faculty, staff, and students.
Support and contribute to the implementation of the strategic plan
of the University and NSH division.
Continuing professional growth, including participation in the
professional development opportunities provided by the
institution.
Adhere to the WPU policies and procedures.
Serve on faculty committees and participate in different WPU and
NSH projects as assigned by the NSH Dean.
Participate in promotion of NSH programs and recruitment of
students.
Demonstrate a commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by
upholding the mission of the college and abiding by the Employment
Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.

Minimum Requirements:
- Master degree in IT/Cybersecurity/Computer Science.
- College teaching experience in relevant curriculum, or relevant
industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in the related field.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Ability to educate and mentor traditional students as well as
adult learners.
- Service in positions of leadership in professional
organizations.
- Relevant industry experience.
Work Environment:The position is located in a traditional college
and office environment. Professional/business casual attire is
required.
