Job Description:
Summary: The Remote Sensing Field Technician acquires data to
specification during aerial survey missions and geodetic control
surveys. The responsibilities encompass many aspects of LiDAR and
remote sensing data acquisition. This position requires extensive
travel by automobile and aircraft throughout the year. Primary
Accountabilities: Primary accountabilities include, but are not
limited to the following. % of Time Primary Accountabilities 60%
Data Acquisition · Acquire airborne data using LiDAR, thermal
infrared and digital multi-spectral imagery among others ·
Effectively work with the pilots to safely and efficiently complete
each mission. · Collecting control utilizing various tools for Hard
Surface Points, Bathymetric, and Air Targets · Review and interpret
remotely sensed data download to ensure coverage and quality. ·
Reporting daily mission activity and project status 30% Planning ·
Mission planning including reviewing job specifications, weather
interpretation, ground support coordination, onsite project
coordination and client coordination. · Work with the Flight
Acquisition managers and Pilots to determine mission priorities.
Perform routine maintenance and upkeep on the remote sensing
instruments including troubleshooting errors. 10% Sensor install
and removal from the aircraft. · Understand and comply with
ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our
business. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in science,
engineering, or a related field; HS diploma and commensurate
experience may be substituted for a degree Valid driver’s license
Ability to work in Canada Preferred Qualifications: Experience with
airborne and terrestrial remote sensing instruments Experience
using both flight planning and post processing software packages
Geodetic Survey experience Experience working in remote locations
Required Skills: Understanding of geospatial concepts and GNSS
survey methods and Interest in GIS and remote sensing Successful
working independently, as well as in a team setting Self-motivated
Strong prioritization, organization, and communication skills
Excellent decision making and problem solving abilities Desire and
flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment 16
days on 12 days off field schedule Physical Requirements: Ability
to work in an aircraft for long periods of time; outside flight
operations, exposure to the cold and heat Travel/Field work
required 75% Ability to lift 50 pounds. The ability to work various
