Description Job title: Engineering Project Manager Summary/Objective: As the Engineering Project Manager you will manage projects by organizing and controlling project elements. The ideal candidate has excellent communication, interpersonal and team engagement skills. You're energetic, motivated, service centered and ready to make a difference. You are experienced managing product development projects in a matrix environment and can prioritize and coordinate responsibilities while meeting deadlines and expectations. You feel comfortable discussing status and issues with engineers of many disciplines (electrical, mechanical, optical, process, firmware, software, and test engineering), as well as with marketing and manufacturing organizations. You work to foster enthusiasm and teamwork, while maintaining a high sense of morale. You are adept at project management of several projects in parallel, which can vary in size and complexity. You are highly team oriented and develop strong and productive relations between all colleagues. Your strong sense of cultural awareness adds to your ability to feel comfortable working a global organization. Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of project management on assigned projects
• Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and plans while conferring with management.
• Consult with management and other stakeholders to determine feasibility, effectiveness, and priority
• Determine responsibilities of project phases and elements, and assign personnel
• Generate schedules by studying project specifications, calculating time requirements and sequencing project elements
• Maintain schedules by coordinating activities, providing accountability, and resolving problems
• Provide accurate and timely information supporting quality decision making across and at all levels of the organization
• Manage the process related to review and release of project deliverables
• Advise management of new developments which may affect schedule, costs, customer and/or inter-departmental relations
• Responsible for scheduling, facilitating and documenting project team meetings
• Scheduling and facilitating gate reviews by working with department stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure gate review criteria are met and documentation is complete
• Administer project management within the Samtec Project Tracking Software --"The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities" Required Experience
  • 5+ Years' experience leading technical product development projects
  • Background in developing multi-disciplinary (optical, mechanical, electrical) volume products
  • Technical background in opto-mechanical and/or electrical design/development
  • Strong technical, interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills
  • A proven track record of successful project delivery
  • Experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering groups & members of management
  • Must be able handle multiple projects simultaneously and switch focus quickly as priorities may change Preferred Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, physics or a related technical field Training required:
