Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer to be based
out of our Portland, OR or Seattle, WA offices. This position will
support our Remediation team within our Environment business
line.
This position is expected to begin May 2023.
Job Overview:
The Entry-Level Environmental Engineer will support our Remediation
team in Oregon/Washington. We are seeking motivated candidate who
would like to develop and advance in a full-time environmental
remediation career.
The successful candidate will have a background in environmental
engineering. Knowledge of environmental investigations and
remediation is preferred. The expectation for this position is 50%
field work and 50% office work. Travelling to project sites would
be local and/or regional. This is not a remote position.
Job Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Support AECOM projects in the areas of contaminated sediments, soil
and groundwater remediation and environmental compliance.
Perform field work such as monitoring or sampling of various media
to support data collection and data management for projects.
Work with senior level staff to support technical analysis and
deliverables for current and prospective clients for remedial
investigations, feasibility studies, remedial design, remedial
action, fate and transport modeling, innovative sampling
approaches, etc.
Builds analytic and design skills.
Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced
engineer.
Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic
drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an
experienced engineer.
Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced
engineer.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering
problems.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule
under supervision.
Maintain positive working relationships with client contacts,
suppliers, contractors, engineering consultants, and external
agencies.
Technical writing will be a main part of this position, assisting
with environmental site assessments and soil/groundwater
investigation reporting.
Engage in internal Technical Practice Groups, coordinate with
company's regional and national experts and professional
development.
Supports remediation team, supporting on multitude of diverse
projects under the supervision of senior geologists/engineers.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering,
or related
Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Valid U.S. Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to obtain 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
Knowledge of environmental investigations and through site clean-up
and closure.
Strong technical writing skills.
Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team
comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects.
Positive attitude and commitment to workplace health and safety are
imperative.
Field work may be required including oversight of
subcontractors.
CAD, GIS, and design package experience a plus.
Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs;
Microsoft Suite Programs.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Additional Information
This is an in-office/hybrid position. Candidates are expected to
reside in the Portland/Seattle area but may have the flexibility to
work remote part of the time.
Travel is required for this position. Candidates must be willing to
travel (local and regionally), complete field work, and work
extended hours, when necessary.
Candidates will be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record
screening upon hire.
Relocation is not offered for this position.
