Job Description:
MWH Constructors, an industry leader in the heavy civil
construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently
seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the construction
of a Water Treatment Plant located in Portland, OR. This project
will be the first of its kind in Portland, scheduled to break
ground in Fall of 2023 and ultimately supplying 135 million gallons
of water a day to the Portland community by Fall of 2027. This
position is a great opportunity for an engineer to gain hands-on
experience through the entire project delivery life cycle, from
groundbreaking to closeout.
The selected individual will provide technical support to project
management and project supervision staff to ensure construction
work is performed efficiently, on schedule and in accordance with
company policy and engineering standards.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Safety and Quality:
- Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of
fellow employees by following the industry and company health and
safety guidelines and policies.
- Support and perform quality inspections for areas/scopes of
work responsible for overseeing. Verifying work is completed per
applicable permits, codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Project Submittals:
- Support development of Submittal Register utilizing contract
documents.
- Review subcontractor and equipment manufacturer submittals
against contract documents.
- Review technical content, with an emphasis on mechanical
content (process piping, pumps, motors, HVAC etc.).
- Assemble submittal package and submit to Owner/Design Engineer
for Review.
- Coordinate all submittal review comments.
- Project Request for Information (RFI) Development and
Execution:
- Research resolutions to drawing interpretation problems,
conflicts, interferences, and errors, with focus on mechanical
equipment, piping or trade coordination.
- Initiate RFI's and follow through to resolution.
- Disseminate RFI information to the project stakeholders.
- Produce weekly and monthly construction progress reports.
- Project Management:
- Assist in resolving construction problem/issues and perform
additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
- Ensure Project management systems are maintained up-to-date and
accurate.
- Support projects controls implementation for distribution and
record keeping of correspondence, technical records, and other
project documents.
- Subcontractor Management:
- Work with Project Manager to develop subcontractor scope of
work.
- Review all incoming correspondence and initiate actionable
tasks.
- Record minutes of the weekly and monthly project site
meeting.
- Review and process the Contractor's pay applications.
- Field Coordination:
- Responsible for material and equipment procurement.
- Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work,
temporary works, work method statements, change orders, estimates,
etc. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering or
Construction Management or related field; equivalent combination of
experience, skills and training may be substituted.
- 0-3 years of related professional experience.
- Working knowledge of construction equipment techniques,
drawings, and specifications, building materials, and required
standards applicable to discipline.
- Ability to assume responsibility and work within a larger team
environment.
- Ability to interface and communicate effectively with
others.
- Proficient with Adobe and Microsoft Office, specifically
Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proficient with use of SharePoint document management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with water/wastewater construction.
- Field construction experience at the jobsite level.
- Experience on large heavy civil construction projects.
- Familiarity with Project Management data base systems such as
Primavera Contract Manager, Expedition, SharePoint, etc. Benefits
