Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of dedicated employees at
our new state-of-the-art facility in Ridgefield, WA, as part of our
Burton Mill Solutions division. Come and grow with us!In this role,
you will be responsible for complex engineering projects involving
the development of manufacturing methods and processes to
efficiently and effectively produce a variety of company product
lines. You will investigate, establish, and implement requirements
for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing
including make of buy decisions and facility layout as required for
new or revised product, from pilot runs through normal production.
You will work with shop supervisors and other engineering functions
and investigate and recommend alternatives to product designs.How
You Will Make a Positive Impact:
- Apply practical knowledge of machining, fabrication, electrical
circuits, and general machine design principals and
components.
- Apply engineering fundamentals and principles, including but
not limited to organization of data engineering calculations
- Provide hands-on engineering to help design innovative and
technically sophisticated machine tools
- Prepare conceptual sketches related to operations
- Initiate and expedite engineering changes resulting from
project assignment evaluation
- Responsible for the disposition of inventory when it becomes
obsolete due to product life cycle or engineering changes.
- Enter transactions in system(s) to maintain inventory
records
- Establish purchasing programs which support "build to
order"
- Identify components that can be managed with supplier stocking
programs and work with purchasing to implement their use
- Establish "build to order" techniques that reduce product lead
time and implement their use
- Establish pull systems to manage "build to order"
components
- Develop flat BOM structures with "M" phantoms to increase
workflow
- Process ECN (Engineering Change Notice) changes including
affectivity dates, product costs, and BOM changes
- Make routing changes to accommodate "build to order"
processes
- Work with VPs and Plant Managers to develop site plan for each
manufacturing plant
- Act as a committed partner in LEAN. Actively participate in
LEAN training as requested, provide observations and suggestions,
implement continuous improvements and waste elimination, and
promote and adhere to safety standards of the company. Coach and
train employees in lean principles.
- Check and respond to email regularly and in a timely fashion to
meet the needs of employees as well as internal and external
customersThe Value You Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical
Engineering
- At least 3 years of experience in plant/facility operations or
equivalent work experience
- Prefer experience with Solidworks
- Practical knowledge of machining, fabrication, electrical
circuits, and general machine design principals and components
- Able to speak, read, and write English with ability to
communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with detail
and clarity. Must be able to effectively and influentially speak
and present to small and large groups as well as individuals at all
levels of the organization.
- Ability to efficiently utilize various computer systems and
applications to complete job functions
- Ability to accurately apply basic to intermediate math skills
(addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions,
etc.)
- Ability to understand, model, and coach employees on the
application of general LEAN concepts
- Must have the ability to influence, demonstrate empathy by
actively listening, have a learning mindset and patient demeanor,
escalate and de-escalate matters as needed, maintain integrity, and
work towards effective resolutions
- Must have analytical problem-solving skills and ability to
apply critical thinking skills
- Ability to effectively multi-task, work well under pressure,
adapt to constant and frequent change, and apply effective time
management and prioritization skills
- Must have excellent problem solving, planning, and
organizational skills
- Ability to show good judgment as relates to work quality,
performance, and people interactions
- Ability to effectively work with a sense of urgency while
multi-tasking and maintaining professionalism
- Must be able and willing to work overtime and weekends when
