The Opportunity
-We are currently seeking -a Water Resources Engineer for the Portland office.



RS&H is building the premier transportation design firm in Oregon and looking for key leadership to advance and differentiate our firm in the Pacific Northwest.

If you are an experienced engineer interested in growing your skills and working on exciting projects, then this is a great opportunity for you. The Water Resources Engineer candidate will be responsible for developing creative solutions to solve our client projects, and core design elements including drainage analysis, bridge hydraulic analysis, design, plan production, specifications, reports, and estimates efforts on large scale traditional design and innovative delivery methods projects. Experience with projects for ODOT and Local Agency clients.

Additional responsibilities include monitoring labor budgets and schedules for assigned tasks/projects; coordinating with discipline key task leaders and staff to ensure ongoing communications; meeting project deliverable schedules and budgets for assigned projects; and supporting marketing and business development initiatives.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university;
  • 8+ -years of work experience -within the field of civil engineering specializing in water resource designs specific to highway and bridge projects;
  • Oregon professional engineering (PE) registration or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment;
  • Proficient in MicroStation, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D;
  • Experience working with large multi-discipline teams;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management; and;
  • Conscientious of project schedules and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines).


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 5+ years ODOT and/or OR Local Agency experience in design
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon
    • Experience working on General Engineering Consultant and Design-Build contracts
    • Advanced knowledge of CADD and drainage software
