Clark County Community Development is seeking an Engineer III to perform Development Engineering review/approval of complex residential, commercial, and industrial developments within Clark County. The selected individual will perform professional engineering work including: design plan review, technical report writing, applying development code, ensuring standard specifications, verifying plan review processes and procedures, and representing Community Development at public meetings. Reviews complex residential, commercial, and industrial development plans for roadway and storm drainage for compliance with County Standards. Prepares staff reports and represents Community Development at hearings for proposed developments. Provides summaries of design deficiencies and recommends the proper corrective action. Coordinates with Construction Inspection to ensure construction compliance with approved plans and specifications. Engineer positions are represented by Local 17, Professional and Technical Employees. This posting is open until filled.---- Qualifications Education and Experience:-- B.S. degree in Civil or related engineering and two (2) years of experience in an Engineer II or equivalent position and registration as a professional civil engineer. The degree must have been conferred by an institution of higher education and have National Recognition of Accrediting Agencies by the U.S. Secretary of Education, and official transcripts will be required at the time of hire. - AND --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license by date of appointment.Preferred experience and knowledge includes:Roadway and storm water design and/or design review;Preparation and/or review of bid documents using WSDOT Standard Specifications;Writing technical memos, reports, or presentation materials;Planning, design, and/or technical review of residential, commercial, or industrial projects;Experience in public presentations and public meetings. Knowledge of:-- Principles and practices of civil engineering; capital infrastructure development; WSDOT Standard Specifications; construction practices, application and interpretation of design guidelines (AASHTO, WSDOT), County development codes, policies, and procedures. Ability to:-- Interpret codes, ordinances, and industry practices as they apply to civil engineering design; establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, private and public agencies, consultants, and citizens; interpret plans, specifications, maps; prepare reports; and communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
