Junior-Level Water Resources Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

Some of the key responsibilities for the junior-level water resources engineer or engineer-in-training position may include:

* Stormwater and surface water quality modeling;

* Surface water modeling, including hydrodynamics, sediment transport and water quality modeling, including potentially using programming for custom applications and data manipulation;

* Stormwater and surface water monitoring and pilot studies, including monitoring system instrumentation;

* Design of drainage systems, stormwater control measures, and related hydraulic structures;

* Hydrology and hydraulics [engineering calculations and modeling] of open channels and stream systems;

* Stormwater permitting and regulatory compliance;

* Statistical data analysis and data visualization;

* Contribution to applied research and technical guidance in water resources topic areas;

* Field investigations and construction support services;

* Erosion and sediment control design and field implementation; and

* Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps

You should expect to work closely with experienced professionals who will guide and integrate you into our team and Geosyntec's culture, as you expand your career. Here are some other things you should know about a typical junior-level water resources engineer position with Geosyntec:

* Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. We encourage and support our staff in submitting papers for technical conferences and have an active Water Resources practice that includes the ability to attend Geosyntec conferences.

* Fieldwork: Variable, typically 10 to 20%

* Overnight travel: Variable, typically 10% to 20%

* BS degree in environmental or civil engineering or MS in environmental science, with emphasis in water resources or closely related discipline. (required)

* Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering, with emphasis in water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred).

* 2 - 5 years of related experience and/or highly relevant graduate study. (preferred)

* Experience with statistical methods, data management, GIS, numerical modeling, design software and computer programming (Python, R, FORTRAN or others) is strongly preferred. Example software includes, but is not limited to, Excel, EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CE-QUAL-W2, LSPC/HSPF, PRMS, EFDC, ArcGIS, and/or AutoCAD.

* Ability to obtain P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration in Oregon, Washington, or Colorado, if applicable, within three years of employment. (strongly preferred)

* Exceptional interpersonal skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills.

* Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel (required)

* Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record (required).
