Umpqua is building an Innovation practice that puts our customers at the center of our exploration into emerging tech and strategic partnership opportunities. Weve recently launched Go-To, a secure chat platform that delivers a true human-digital banking experience that goes beyond transaction. As such, one of our most critical focus areas will be how we build and expose our services to industry partners in order to deliver greater value and frictionless experiences to our target customers. As the Product Innovation lead of Opening Banking and Partnerships for Umpqua, youll collaborate closely with our architecture, engineering and business teams to develop and activate an Open Banking strategy for Umpqua that allows us to create deeper relationships with our customers across the channels of their choice, offer new products and brand partnerships in a seamless and secure manner, and explore new use cases for our APIs. Responsibilities include: - Building a roadmap and strategy for our APIs based on partnership opportunities and the industry landscape. - Serve as overall Product Owner for Umpquas externalized APIs, working closely with the engineering teams to manage your backlog, oversee sprint-planning sessions and release planning - Apply industry experience in FinTech to create and design products which are attractive and marketable to FinTech customers - Test new monetization strategies for Umpqua APIs by engaging with target partners and fintechs. - Negotiate terms of use with customers and work with legal and business teams to create customer contracts and agreements - Work with Product team to translate business and functional requirements into API User Stories - Make product roadmap decisions and have overall ownership of Umpquas Open Banking services. - Prioritize work and make strategic decisions on cutting or adding features during the development cycle - Work with marketing team to develop a marketing plan for Open Banking, identifying key target audiences and how best to engage with this audience from customer research to hosting hackathons - Own all API documentation including documents for developer support, security, sales, sales training, marketing - Define product KPIs and critical performance metrics for you products, work with data science leads to ensure instrumentation and reporting is comprehensive and empowers you to make educated decisions around product roadmaps and optimization. - You are the primary relationship manager for all external partnerships that are critical to the delivery of new Community features and have the ability to manage both partner and internal development requirements. - You are confident in your position and strategy and are able to represent and present with executive stakeholders. - Collaborate intensely with the rest of the Innovation team to discover, prioritize, plan, and develop products that customers love and meet the needs of our business - Help innovate and iterate on product development processes and share learnings. - Guide and execute on opportunities for Umpqua Communities to play a key role in capturing, synthesizing, prioritizing and testing associate-sourced innovation ideas. - Work closely with business application support team to craft SLAs and incident processes to ensure appropriate support is in place at launch to address application performance and user-related issues. - Incorporate user experience research and best practices to guide your product design - Review progress of development to ensure compliance with overall design parameters and development standards. Guide programmers/developers on technical issues. Basic Qualifications - Master's degree, or equivalent work experience - 10 or more years of experience in product management and leadership activities - Experience working with APIs - 2+ years of experience working in the Financial Technology sector, preferably on the business/product side - Strong verbal and written communication skills - High attention to detail and visual presentation - 2+ years of designing, programming, testing, or supporting APIs (though no API programming will be required for this specific role) - 2+ years of Agile experience - Technical writing experience - Excellent presentation skills and comfort presenting complex information to senior leadership Your ride: - In the first 30 days, you'll have worked hand in hand with our API architecture team and product team to fully understand where we are, where we're going, and earned an Azure Certified Cloud Practitioner credential. - In the first 90 days, you'll have developed an API road map and worked hand-in-hand with the development to see your vision coming to fruition. - In the first year, you will have helped to create a robust assemblage of APIs serving as "bank building blocks" being used in unique and innovate ways to fundamentally change financial services.
