DescriptionPosition: Senior Director Clinical Quality &
SafetyReports to: Executive Vice PresidentSupervises: N/APOSITION
SUMMARYThe Senior Director Clinical Quality & Safety - creates,
leads, implements, and achieves results related to Patient Safety,
Care Transformation and clinical regulation across Oregon. The Sr.
Director will be actively involved in leading complex projects with
65 hospitals, office practices, and other community partners
utilizing evidence-based practice through Learning Collaboratives
(forums to share best practices with approximately 150
participants), as well playing a vital role in providing guidance
and developing implementation ready documents/toolkits and data.
This position develops and manages the association's quality and
patient safety program, assists with association education efforts
and supports association activities related to nursing practice,
other clinical matters and serves as a subject matter expert
regarding quality and clinical issues for the associations policy
and advocacy teams.Primary Responsibilities* Act as the core staff
member to the OAHHS Board of Trustees' Quality Committee including
the Chief Medical Officers (CMO) subcommittee and lead the
development of an annual quality/safety workplan that aligns and
advances with OAHHS' strategic plan.* Develop and facilitate
implementation of OAHHS quality goals and objectives.* Schedule,
manage and lead Learning Collaboratives-meetings with 150 or more
people-to provide evidence, best practices, and other information
to improve care.* Coordinate meetings; develop effective work
plans; manage timelines; coordinate internal transitions of work;
support data needs; address customer needs; and support completion
of quarterly, annual and management reports.* Network and maintain
relationships with community and national partner organizations.
Serve on various stakeholder boards representing the association
and its members. * Co-lead, with WA State Hospital Association
(WSHA) the development and advancement of Oregon's priorities
within the NW Patient Safety Partnership * Serve as the in-house
expert for development of public policy quality issues; assist with
development and response to legislative initiatives.* Provide or
facilitate development of education related to clinical and process
improvement and monitor ongoing needs.* Monitor and assist with
issues related to clinical nursing issues.* Serve as a resource on
hospital accreditation issues. * Excellent research capabilities in
finding and sharing clinical best practices; must have prior
experience gathering data, designing reports, and developing
systems to collect and present data.* Experience working closely
with groups composed of a variety of disciplines.* Understanding of
culture and change management.* Must have demonstrated expertise in
one or two of the primary areas of focus.* Comfortable giving and
receiving feedback in a constructive manner to colleagues and
supervisors.MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree
required, Master's Degree preferred, in health care, nursing or
related field, combined with a minimum of five years of clinical
experience in a clinical setting as well as experience in a senior
level position related to clinical quality management. Demonstrated
knowledge of operations, physician relations, program development,
and complex project management such as nursing
director.--Experience across multiple clinical specialties
preferred but not required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* Strong computer
and data management skills, including proficiency with the
Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint, and ability to
produce graphs, charts and spreadsheets. * Demonstrated ability
with web-based tools such as managing and updating website
content.* Ability to gather, interpret and analyze data using
computer software.
