SUMMARY The Marine Project Manager leads and oversees a team of Design Engineers and Drafters with the development of project drawings and build schedules for the construction of new barges. Coordinates with customer representatives, regulatory bodies, Greenbrier Marine Engineering, Planning, and Production Groups to ensure project overall success. Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices. *Leads development of vessel/barge detail designs including technical specifications, general arrangement, lines, structures, outfitting, machinery, and piping systems, using ABS rules and USCG regulations; drawings will be produced in AutoCAD 2-D or ShipConstructor 3-D formats. *Reviews stress analysis as well as scantling, hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, and piping system calculations to ensure compliance with the design specifications and regulatory body rules. *Review/Approve construction drawings, specifications, and other engineering data for the vessel. *Submits applications to ABS and USCG and obtain all required certificates and documentation for the vessels in time to meet delivery schedule.

  • Responsible for Project schedule updates & monthly financial/budget reviews for each project. *Communicates with Owners via project status reports and tracking of significant construction milestone events. *Communicates with regulatory bodies, outside engineering firms, Owner's rep, subcontractors, and other Gunderson departments for each marine project. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The following generally describes requirements to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period to successfully perform the assigned duties. Thorough knowledge and understanding of ABS rules and USCG regulations. Be able to use AutoCAD 2018 or higher releases. Experience with and knowledge of the following software will be a plus: 3-D modeling/Production: ShipConstructor 2019 and up, Inventor, etc. Microsoft Project Have expertise is use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, etc. Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed Understands business implications of decisions; aligns work with strategic goals. Sets and achieves challenging goals; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles; measures self against standard of excellence; takes calculated risks to accomplish goals Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including large group presentations Strong attention to detail Ability to self-monitor in terms of meeting deadlines and working with little supervision Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. A Master's degree is preferred. Minimum of ten years (10) experience with a shipyard or naval architectural/marine engineering consulting firm is required. Five years (5) in structural, piping, or machinery design and three years in project management is required. Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Project Management certification is preferred (ie.
