Other requirements include account management skills and a working knowledge of marketing principles. The candidate must be capable of multi-tasking and possesses strong organizational and computer skills.Job Title:Sponsorship ManagerReports To:Sponsorship DirectorClassification:Regular Exempt (salaried)Primary Duties and Responsibilities:This position works in partnership with the entire staff, board of directors and volunteers for the sole purpose of creating sponsorship revenues for the Portland Rose Festival Foundation. The primary function of this position will be to solicit and develop new sponsorship sales leads, as well as maintain and cultivate existing corporate sponsorship clients. The position supports the Sponsorship Director with creating and developing sponsorship inventory strategies to help maximize PRFF's revenue potential and create marketing strategies with corporate sponsors designed to promote Rose Festival events.Specific Sales Duties and Responsibilities:The Sponsorship Manager represents PRFF in presenting a strong supporting case for the corporate business community to support the Rose Festival through some form of sponsorship sales transaction. The process includes cold calling, client meetings, continual follow-up in person (including electronically or via phone), writing sponsorship proposals and contracts, invoicing, presenting sponsor audits and assisting Sponsorship Director as necessary.Other Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for managing sponsor accounts from solicitation to event execution and providing administrative support related to sponsorship sales and event management implementation. The Sponsorship Manager is responsible for client fulfillment of benefits, including onsite activation and assisting with client's needs across all Rose Festival events. This individual must actively work cohesively with event managers on all aspects of sponsor fulfillment to ensure PRFF can deliver on sponsor's expectations. Other duties as assigned.Skills & Abilities Required:Proven self starter with effective communication skills, both written and verbal and must be enthusiastic about the sales process from start to finish. Candidate must be a proven salesproducer and have knowledge of marketing principles, possess strong account management skills and effective problem solver. Candidate must also be attentive to detail and accuracy. Successfultrack record in sponsorship sales and skills in special events or sports properties a plus. Candidate must have proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. Aptitude with office equipment, such as copier, postage meter and phone system; ability to compose correspondence; demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of people; attention to detail; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute and sit for extensive periods of time.Experience Required:Prior outside sales experience required with sales prior experience selling sponsorships in theevents, or sports industry preferred. Nonprofit experience is also plus.Education Required:A 4-year college degree is preferred. Understanding of special events industry a plus.Interpersonal Skills:Ability to maintain effective working relationships with prospective clients, current clients, staff and board members, projecting a positive attitude, being flexible regarding work assignments and responding to changing demands and priorities.Work Environment:Most duties will be performed in an office setting, although occasional onsite event tasks may be assigned. May require periods of standing or walking and some light lifting.
