Job Description:

GitHub helps companies and organizations succeed by allowing them to build better software, together. We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Planner who will be responsible for the portfolio pricing and packaging for GitHubs products and features and defining the optimal portfolio strategy that will help balance customer adoption, long-term growth, and customer value for both our self-serve and sales-serve channels.

As a Senior Business Planner, you will partner with a virtual team of passionate peers from Product Management, Product Marketing, Strategic Finance, and Sales to define and execute business models and monetization strategies for GitHubs overall portfolio. Specific projects could include packaging of the right features into the right GitHub plans, pricing of GitHubs portfolio plans, evolving the existing GitHub business models, and/or finding new business growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Align the organization on pricing and packaging principles that ensure clarity across GitHubs entire portfolio.
  • Conduct customer, market, and competitive research to build a pricing and packaging strategy for GitHubs products and features
  • Evaluate opportunities to increase market penetration across segments, offerings, and markets.
  • Synthesize data and research to drive portfolio-level pricing and packaging decisions for new product launches, feature launches, and price changes.
  • Identify and propose opportunities to improve the customer experience and long term value capture.
  • Identify pricing and product opportunities to address new markets.
  • Create in-depth proposals, present them to senior leadership, and drive cross-functional alignment across GitHub
  • Provide thought leadership in identifying emerging trends and potential areas of growth for GitHubs portfolio
  • Establish new business models to address underpenetrated areas: identify business opportunities, perform deep analysis, and draft executive-ready proposals

    Qualifications
    • 5+ years of experience in business planning, pricing and packaging, product marketing, and/or strategy consulting in the software industry
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive portfolio strategies and build executive buy-in and support
    • Strong analytical skills and business acumen to drive data and customer driven decisions
    • Aptitude and passion for both strategy formulation and program execution
