Generous paid time off (PTO) Company-paid holidaysRetirement plans with employer match The Safety Director reports to the VP of Operations and serves a critical role on BGCP's administration team, representing the work and focus of the organization's overall safety, security, and risk management strategy. The Safety Director contributes to the successful execution of the organization's safety strategies that tie into the overall strategic vision. Position Responsibilities: Oversee ongoing safety assessment and risk management/prevention strategy to include advising administrative and program leaders on risk management, loss prevention, insurance practices and safety and security measures to include premise security, vehicle safety, and cyber security. Manage security and safety resources for all facilities to include assigning and monitoring access to buildings; overseeing the maintenance of security resources at individual sites, training employees, and on-going communication with and evaluation of contractors for assurance of reliable, responsive and cost-effective services. Management of third-party service providers including broker and insurance carrier loss control representatives. Review and evaluate incident reports, analyze events and accidents to identify root causes, categorize them by level and advise external safety committee, administrative leaders, and program leaders on preventative and/or corrective measures. Collaborate with VP of Operations and BGCA Director of Organizational Development on Level 3 Incident Reports.Manage safety related investigations involving third party representatives (i.e. insurance, law enforcement, DHS, etc.); manage incident reports, organize document requests, track progress, and advise External Safety Committee and Executive Management Team on responses. Create and execute safety trainings for program staff regarding high-risk issues and potential emergency situations. Collaborate with External Safety Committee and Executive Management Team on policy creation and review processes. Advise Executive Management Team on the procurement of safety related vendors; manage vendor list. Coordinate and lead walk-throughs during quarterly External Safety Committee meetings. Lead BGCA Annual Safety Assessment process. Oversee Safety Improvement Planning process. Assure organization's compliance with all applicable local and state regulations and requirements related to club safety. Manage the internal safety committee. Create agendas, lead meetings, and build annual work plans. Collaborate with External Safety Committee Chair and VP of Operations on creating agendas for External Safety Committee meetings. Skills & Knowledge Preferred: High School Diploma or GED Equivalence. Training Certifications in School Safety, Law Enforcement, Security, and/or Safety Related Field. Minimum of 5 years experience in a safety related field, such as youth development safety, law enforcement, or security. Qualities of the Ideal Candidate: Demonstrate a willingness to approach safety through an equity lens. Hold a belief that all kids should have equal access to safe, high quality programming environments. Have a proven background in work dedicated to creating safety-first environments. Have qualifications and experience overseeing organization-wide safety assessments and trainings specifically related to the delivery of youth services. Have some experience in risk management, loss prevention, and insurance practices. Have the ability to lead and mentor with a dedication to risk analysis and response. Demonstrate the ability to be an effective convener, mentor, team builder, and participant. Demonstrate strong communication skills. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, BGCP has focused on protecting the health of our communities and workforce. The current surge in cases across the state because of the Delta variant and the resulting strain on our regional healthcare system present us with perhaps the steepest challenge of the pandemic so far. As a result, BGCP has, as mandated that as a qualification of employment, all staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 18, 2021, as allowed by law and unless the staff receives a medical or religious exemption.
