Tristate based candidates are preferred. Carat in New York, is looking to add a Director, Integrated Media Planning to their team. You will support a multicultural spirits client that is a leader in their space with many creative projects in their portfolio. This is an opportunity to work on an integrated team that offers cross-brand media solutions across communications planning, investment, digital and analytics.The Director, Integrated Media Planning role is one of team and agency leadership, and is directly responsible for the holistic communications planning across all channels the client. The Director also provides strategic direction for the client and should understand your client's business and the technology/competitive landscape. You will oversee a planning team and your responsibility extends from complete oversight of clients, to staff management and development. The person who is successful in this role will be someone who shows an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of their client's business and the technology/competitive landscape. You will report to the VP, Planning working side by side to best serve the needs of our client.

  • Manage a given brand's business (both traditional and digital) throughout the entire strategic and planning process
  • Accountable for all communication and media deliverables; maintain status report as demonstration of this and for client and internal management effectiveness
  • Translate strategy statement into ideas and actions; expand communications planning influence beyond Context Strategies and communications plans into orchestrated marketing tactics that meet shared goals using agreed to marketing and communications strategies
  • Lead in strategic positioning, segmentation projects and in areas of holistic program planning and communications idea generation/execution. Use Director, Insights and VP, Communication Planning to broaden perspective or sharpen selling power
  • Create communications plan (appropriate channels, suitable mix) based on all info available (sales, MMM, brand lift studies, publicly available info) - not just receptivity data
  • Oversee strategic implementation and measurement/optimization of communication plans; create projects that are important to each brand's marketing and learning plans and be the point-person on strategic and broader implementation questions (use management strength of team to implement media plan specifics)
  • Brief partner agencies on strategic implementation needs and roles of specific communication channels; use specific examples that relate to your brands, retail environments, and set with real or estimated metrics for success to help clients and other partner agencies understand how to communications strategy comes to life in the communications plan
  • Work with internal & external teams to ensure that strategic themes and communications plans are implemented faithfully; provide important leadership in helping others on the team understand how strategies and plans impact sales and ensure output is in synch with goals
  • Build and sustain client relationships-attending client meetings and maintaining regular contact; contact frequency, depth of understanding of client business and effectiveness in selling recommendations are typically related especially in first 12 months on account
  • Collaborate with VP, Communications Planning in creating and negotiating yearly client contracts and supplemental proposals and manage account profitability
  • Manage relationships with clients and all partners of seniority
  • Create communication style and messaging to clients ; be able to pick up on and maneuver social and cultural cues
  • Manage expectations of clients and deliverables
  • Stay on top of business and client concerns to head off issues early
  • Represent our client's point of view when reviewing work, use this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client, focused on doing the best work for our client's business
  • Invest time to investigate opportunities for providing better Client support
  • Ensure collaboration among all Agency departments; foster great teamwork
  • Provide appropriate management updates and solicit feedback and direction
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of client brands, brands equity, consumer definition and motivations
  • Develop specific, measurable client goals
  • Develop strategies by media discipline
  • Respond when presented with issues
  • Ensure group is trained on all internal procedures, best practices and technologies
  • Evaluate media/communication opportunities and provide sound recommendations
  • Ensure appropriate staff use
  • Develop a media planning team
  • Construct and provide accurate, honest performance management documents
  • Encourage open, ongoing internal communication
  • Ensure important information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status.
  • Develop client presentations
  • Adapt communication style to relevant audience and move audience to desired action through clear and delivery of informationQualifications
    • Bachelor's degree
    • 10 years of experience in integrated media and brand management
    • Experience with multi-channel marketing, with an emphasis on performance marketing
    • Client service experience
    • Managed a team of planners, supervisors and associate directorsAdditional Information
