Position Title: Purchasing Manager
Reports To: Operations Director
Rogers is seeking an organized individual with a Business or Supply
Chain background to join our team as a Purchasing Manager. In this
role, you will own all aspects of material related activity within
the business and provide leadership to the purchasing team.
Responsible for developing strategies and programs to optimize
cost, establish key supplier relationships, negotiate supply
agreements, and mentor staff to reach their full potential.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with
specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and
communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on
business operations
- Conduct market research and supplier scouting; Lead RFP/RFQ
activities and agreement negotiations
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and drive cost
reduction
- Manage and mitigate risks to prevent shortages and establish
VMI and/or Kanban programs
- Negotiation of material costs, MOQ, and Lead Time
- Develop and manage supplier relationships to assure vigorous
service levels
- Negotiate contracts and terms of business with suppliers, and
review opportunities to make business savings
- Identify alternate sources for goods and services, including
international options, to eliminate single sourcing risks
- Responsible for implementing common processes and tools, and
driving continuous improvement
- Implements KPI's to measure team and supplier performance
- Responsible for monitoring inventory levels and driving overall
inventory reduction strategies
- Work closely with engineering to manage and schedule revisions
and component substitutions
- Delivers effective/interactive communications and activities to
support positive morale
- Guide team members and oversee day-to-day Procurement
activities and projects
- Develop and train staff through counselling and guidance
through Individual Development Plans and Coaching
- Leads performance management processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business related field
- Five years minimum experience in Supply Chain management
- Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, lead, and inspire
associates
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen Events, VSM, and ERP
systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively
under pressure in a high paced work environment
- Positive attitude, excellent communication skills,
self-motivator, and superior organization skills
- Customer first (internal and external) service attitude
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Shift
- Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00PM
