    Job Description:

    JOB SUMMARY:

    In this role, you will be responsible for leadership, direction, coordination and oversight of Medical Staff Support Services in all Legacy facilities. This is at the System level, including Medical Staff Credentialing, privileging, performance improvement, and compliance.

    This translates to often attending early morning meetings in one of our multiple hosptial sites in the Portland Metro area (including Salmon Creek in SW WA). You'll be managing and collaborating with a staff of experienced, high performing Credentialing professionals.

    The role demands the experience to advise Medical Staff leadership in the development of, implementation of, and adherence to medical staff organization governing structures and documents, as well as adherence to accrediting body and state/federal regulatory requirements.

    Job Qualifications:

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience: Minimum five years' comprehensive experience as a health care professional within an acute care or system-wide setting, with supervisory and management experience.

    Recent experience as a medical staff professional preferred. Must have working knowledge of standards for all certification, accreditation, and regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over hospital and clinic-based medical staff services.

    Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience.

    Licensure/Certification: Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required.

    CPMSM strongly preferred. Certification must be obtained within one calendar year of employment and be maintained by achievement of CEU requirements.

    Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, training, and evaluation of staff. Assesses technical and professional education needs of the staff and develops and provides educational resources to meet those needs. Assigns workloads and monitors quality of work.

    Determines and/or manages business priorities. Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of systems credentials verification services and system privileging services. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of department services.

    Monitors the department's operating budget. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to insure compliance with budget guidelines.

    Demonstrates knowledge of applicable, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations/accreditation. Maintains adherence to federal and state regulations and accrediting body standards for issues related to the medical staff, including but not limited to governance, credentialing, and professional performance evaluation.

    Serves as expert resource to the medical staff organizations, hospital administrations, and medical staff services/credentialing personnel. Provides orientation to medical staff leadership regarding responsibilities, roles, and functions.
