Clinical Nurse II (RN) Neurosurgical/Trauma Intermediate Care
Unit (IMC) Summary For a limited time MMC is offering up to
$20,000--Sign on bonus for all eligible experienced Nurses!
- Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or
Part time MMC RN position--on or after 08/20/20 and have greater
than 3 years (36 months) of RN work experience. Bonus amount
prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
- Bonus is paid out in three installments - First month of
employment, completion of one year of employment and completion of
2 nd year of employment. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires,
per diem hires are ineligible.
- Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former
MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months
separation from employment. Position Summary R6 is a dynamic 24-bed
neurosurgical / trauma unit with an embedded 9-bed neuro-focused
Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Bean 2 is a fast-paced 12-bed Total
Joint Center. This position offers the R6/B2 RN an opportunity to
care for a diverse patient population in a supportive environment
as an integral member of a collaborative team of highly trained
staff. The R6 patient population includes adults and older
adolescents with neurological and orthopedic conditions including
closed head injuries, strokes, brain tumors, seizure disorders,
multi-traumas, and conditions requiring neurosurgical intervention.
RNs providing care in the R6 IMC demonstrate astute assessment and
critical thinking skills, as patients in IMC often have
multi-system issues that require telemetry monitoring,
intra-cranial pressure monitoring, medication drips, frequent
intervention, or other higher acuity care needs. The Bean 2 patient
population consists of adults who have undergone joint replacement
surgeries. This unit serves as the Joint Center for our nationally
recognized and Joint Commission accredited joint replacement
program. The RN on Bean 2 coordinates important milestones of care
for each patient's visit to facilitate a timely and safe discharge.
This unit sees a high turnover of patients and consistently
receives exceptional patient satisfaction scores. R6/IMC/B2 offers
a challenging yet rewarding environment where teamwork, excellent
communication, a positive attitude, and a proactive approach to
provision of care is expected. As a teaching unit with frequent
student rotations, this collaborative learning environment welcomes
new graduate RNs and other learners excited to be part of this
supportive team. The compassionate Nurses, Patient Care
Technicians, and CNAs on R6/IMC/B2 work closely to support each
other in meeting patients' needs and ensuring the highest standards
of care are met. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is
preferred. Must matriculate to a BSN within one year of hire,
attaining completion within five years of hire.
- License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a
Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Maine.
- Experience: Meets all requirements of Clinical Nurse I.
Completion of Level I usually achieved by 12 months of
- Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education per year.
- Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing
environment for patients and families.
- Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to
care for most patient populations on the unit.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively
with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving
patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action.
- In accordance with the Clinical Nursing Advancement Program, a
Clinical Nurse II may choose to remain at Level II as opposed to
seeking advancement to Level III. Additional Information Maine
