Job Description:

Outside In is looking for a collaborative, passionate, trauma-informed Clinic Support Specialist and Interpreter to support our multi-disciplinary medical teams. This is a full-time, days Monday-Friday, non-exempt union-represented position with a starting hourly rate of $16.61 - $19.43. The candidate who is chosen for this role will qualify for a bilingual pay differential ($0.75/hour) upon hire after the completion of an ALTA language test and will qualify for an interpreter differential ($1.50/hour) after completing the Oregon Health Care Interpreters Association (OHCIA) course. The differential is added to the hourly rate. This position is a combination of remote and onsite work. What Youll Do Medical office coordination

* Assist with the training of front office staff and/or volunteers. * Medical interpretation from Spanish to English and English to Spanish.

Medical Interpretation

* Assure written translation and verbal interpretation for Spanish speaking patients as needed; update bilingual English and Spanish information for clients referral documents; ensure delegation of tasks for timely completion. * Oversee facilitation of interpretation needs for clinic patients and providers; seek solutions to filling interpreting needs in a way that promotes ease of access for patients. * Work with clinic manager to ensure compliance of the clinic in the provision of these services. * Track competency levels and certification of staff and volunteer interpreters; implement and facilitate annual re-certification process for interpreters, including training. * Advocate on behalf of population-specific culturally competent care. * Engage in crisis intervention and client advocacy.

Patient/Customer service

* Maintain an environment conducive to patient comfort and confidentiality. * Oversee patient intake and reception for multiple clinic shifts. * Assist new patients with the registration process. * Provide referrals for clients to various community agencies. * Verify patient insurance and receive copayments. * Assist qualified patients with applying for the Oregon Health Plan

Medical Information Management

* Promote accuracy and efficiency in front desk procedures and paperwork. * Assist providers and MAs with patient follow-up. * Daily scanning, data entry, and troubleshooting of patient paperwork using EMR.

Outreach Coordination

* Provide intake, registration, scheduling, and administrative tasks with our mobile medical clinic. * Work at several outreach sites including homeless drop-in centers and Cascadia Behavioral Health facilities. * Support medical provider and medical assistant and work at our school-based health center as needed.

Qualifications

* Bilingual spoken/written English/Spanish. Must pass ALTA language test with a score of 10 or higher. * Training or experience as a medical interpreter/translator. If dont have the qualification must enroll in the next available course and pass the test within 3 months. * Ability to handle crises & multiple tasks in high call volume environment. * Excellent communication skills. * Strong reception and administrative skills with high accuracy and attention to detail. * Able to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, gender, socioeconomic, and sexual preference backgrounds. * Able to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

* Familiarity with medical terminology and language. * Medical Interpreter experience , preferred * Call Center Experience, preferred
