Job Description:
Darigold has a great opportunity for an experienced
Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Manager to join our Portland,
OR team. This role is responsible for leading EHS regulatory
compliance and best management practices through the implementation
of the Darigold EHS Management System for the Portland, OR
facility. The manager works closely with the Plant Manager, plant
staff the Senior EHS Analyst, and Corporate EHS Director to
effectively coordinate and implement critical EHS programs to
ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, agency
guidelines and expectations, and Darigold's EHS policies. This
position is instrumental in responding to all environmental, health
and safety incidents and operational upsets. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities (other duties as assigned) - Ensure compliance
with all applicable federal, state and local requirements governing
environmental protection and occupational safety and health
standards by staying current and informed on federal, state, and
local rules and regulations - Interfaces with regulatory agencies,
plant staff, and the corporate EHS team as needed - Monitor
environmental compliance and assure timely internal and external
reporting and data input into Darigold's tracking systems. Alert
and advise Plant Manager and corporate EHS staff when permit and/or
compliance issues develop - Monitor occupational safety and health
compliance and assure timely internal and external reporting and
data input into Darigold's tracking systems. Alert and advise Plant
Manager and corporate EHS staff when safety and health issues
develop - Respond and provide guidance and assistance for all
emergency situations - Implement all aspects of EHS investigations,
data analysis, recurrence prevention programs, and continuous
improvement procedures - Directly support delivery of all EHS
training for all levels of employees - Lead plant EHS Team efforts
and continue to develop the EHS Team program - Provide technical
assistance and plant support for all Darigold's EHS programs as
requested by the Senior EHS Manager and/or Corporate EHS
DirectorEmbody a safety culture to change behavior and drive change
across the Sunnyside siteSpearhead the risk management process to
systematically identify hazards, assess risks, and drive execution
of corrective actionsLead incident investigations to determine root
cause and ensure corrective actions are implemented and
documentedPartner with site leadership to establish goals, metrics,
and priorities for safetyManage the EHS KPIs and other trends to
identify areas where we can continue to account for and mitigate
risks and drive safetyPrepare reports by collecting, analyzing,
summarizing data and present recommended next stepsLead the
effective management, motivation, and training of safety
topicsRespond and provide guidance for all emergency
situationsSponsor and support the Darigold Performance System
Safety PillarMaintain current knowledge of trends and practices and
remain apprised of industry standards, technology, developments,
and regulatory changesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities -
Professional communication skills and ability to respond
effectively to EHS compliance issues, inquires, and/or complaints
are of critical importance. Also must be able to clearly
communicate under pressure. Team leadership skills are also
critical - Analyze data, write, and submit reports. Must be able to
maintain EHS compliance software systems and utilize data to drive
continuous improvement - Develop and deliver presentations on
compliance topics to plant management, plant staff, and public
groups when requested by the Senior EHS Manager or EHS Director -
Communicate technical and complex EHS concepts and requirements.
Person in this position must be able to conduct technical training
and engage employees in an effective learning experience - Pursue
and productively participate in continuing technical education as
deemed necessary by the Senior EHS Manager or EHS
DirectorEducation, Experience, and Certifications - Bachelor's
degree preferably in Environmental, Health and Safety, Engineering,
Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Occupational
Safety, or a related field. Combination of associate degree and
directly related EHS compliance experience considered. Other degree
and/or experience combinations may also be considered - 2 to 3
years of directly related experience in EHS compliance; Food &
