Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. They may be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. Able to travel to all clinic locations within the company.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned
Checking schedules and organizing patient flow
Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
Assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam
Assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned
Sending/receiving patient medical records, lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information
Completing forms/requisitions as needed
Scheduling appointments
Verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics
Managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned
Setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols
Cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
Ordering, sorting, storing supplies; and restocking exam/procedure rooms.
Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid certifications.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Any other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, AUTHORITIES & ABILITIES:

High school graduate or equivalent
Completion of a Medical Assistant Certification program from an accredited technical college or state training program.
At least 6 months experience in a community health, public health, or community hospital, a plus.
