Central City Concern's Old Town Recovery Center is hiring a Mental Health Counselor, Peer for the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) team.

The Counselor works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing intensive case management and integrated dual diagnosis treatment. The team works to address all treatment needs, including crisis management, substance abuse treatment, medication management, physical health treatment, mental health treatment, accessing benefits and entitlements, accessing appropriate and affordable housing.

Schedule : Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM with the ability to cover rotation of carrying the team pager for one week at every 8 weeks for responding to after hours crisis events both via phone and in person.

  • Participate in Outreach activities necessary to offer services and engage participation in a non-coercive manner. Escort clients to meetings and appointments as necessary.
  • Exemplify recovery principles in order to show by example that recovery is possible and attainable. Share their own recovery story as appropriate, and walk the road of recovery alongside the client.
  • Work to increase level of cultural sensitivity, awareness and competency regarding Person Centered and Peer Delivered Services.
  • Educate and advocate for the values and principles of the Recovery Model.
  • Work with Clinical Supervisor to develop and support new peer programming.
  • Participate in the development of the treatment plan with client & treatment team.
  • Participate in evaluating clients for risk of harm.
  • Participate in admission and discharge planning for any client needing hospitalization or subacute level of care. Client contact must be made within one working day of admission.
  • Participate in the rotation of carrying after-hours pager and providing holiday coverage with other members of team/program.
    Requirements:
    • QMHA preferred (Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences field or a combination of at least three year's work, education, training or experience in chemical dependency or mental health treatment).
    • Must be a self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services; or a self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder, who meets the abstinence requirements for recovery staff in alcohol and other drug treatment programs; or a family member of an individual who is a current or former recipient of addictions or mental health services. Person must identify on the application or cover letter how they have "lived" personal experience leading to an understanding of the needs of persons with mental health & substance abuse issues.
    • Must be certified by an Oregon State Addictions & Mental Health approved training as Peer Specialist.
    • Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
    • Must have current CPR certification or obtain before start date
    • Must possess a current driver's license, access to a vehicle, qualify as an Acceptable Driver as designated in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety policy. Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training. Must maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage.
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit
