financial success.The Clinical Consultant is responsible for
supporting OneAmerica's Disability Claims operation by serving as a
clinical subject matter expert for the clinical and claims teams.
They are also expected to work closely with the Director, Clinical
and Vocational and collaborate with other resources within the
disability claims department when working on continuous improvement
projects and initiatives.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of short and
long-term disability claim referrals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings as the clinical
resource. Provide answers regarding medical issues, and
functionality. Provide clear and complete clinical short and
long-term clinical recommendations.
- Assist disability claims associates when they submit files for
peer reviews, IMEs, or FCEs by providing guidance around the
specialty of provider to utilize and questions to ask of that
provider.
- Collaborate with internal resources to assist the claims team
in developing a sound action plan for a disability claim
- Document claim files and systems in a clear and professional
manner.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements
- Participate in pilots -and projects, as needed, within the
department.
- Provide -support and training to the claims department around
specific medical conditions and clinical trends to improve medical
knowledge.
- Act as a mentor to new clinical peers.QUALIFICATIONS &
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) and possess current licensure.
License must be current and without standing or pending censure by
any state
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of recent work experience within
disability claims carrier environment strongly preferred (Life,
Waiver, LTC experience may be considered).
- Or any combination of education and experience which would
provide an equivalent backgroundSalary Band: 06BThis selected
candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Portland, ME for local
candidates. Non-local candidates will be fully remote. The
candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office
in CA, WI, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building
