Job Description:
The schedule for this position is 6:30am to 3pm, Monday though
Friday. This position would be best suited for someone who has
great customer service but prefers working individually. Because it
is a singular position, the person filling this role should be
highly reliable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Health Information Management
- Sort, classify, and verify all documents are processed per
established guidelines
- Administer records management processes per file structure,
naming conventions according to established guidelines
- Transfer healthcare information in paper format to electronic
format
- Process documents received by electronic fax in accordance with
procedure guidelines
- Scan new patient records in accordance to the guidelines
- Preload new and returning patient's records; analyze and
extract specific information from the records to be put into
structured fields within the electronic health record
- Work in conjunction with the Provider's clinical team to ensure
the patient's electronic health record is in a current status
- Call patients to obtain healthcare information
- Provide training in the records management process
- Maintain and update the records management workflow guide ASC
Reception
- Greet incoming patients, visitors and vendors using friendly,
respectful communication.
- Check patients in and out for their appointments; notify
clinical staff that patient has arrived using the established
workflow, and effectively communicate any delays.
- Obtain and document up to date demographic information for
patient, including updated insurance information, license
information, etc.
- Check in vendors, insuring compliance with Vendormate process
and assigning vendor badge
- Assist billing office with problem resolution as necessary
- Answer incoming telephone calls using pleasant phone voice and
proper telephone etiquette
- Complete forms necessary for patient appointments (including
printing, assembling charts, and mailing patient documents) JOB
REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate or equivalent
- High level of reliability
- Health Information experience; Associates Degree in Health
Information Management preferred
- RHIT Credential-Preferred
- Experience with EMR/eClinical Works-preferred
- Proficient with Windows based computer applications
- Accurate transcribing and data entry skills
- Excellent typing and accurate documentation of patient
encounter
- Understanding of HIPAA/Patient confidentiality
- Medical terminology- Preferred
- Ability to type with great accuracy
- Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service
to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors
- Ability to work independently and accurately
