The primary role of the -Director of Nursing -is to provide clinical coordination and direct patient care for infusion services for Optum Infusion patients, coordinating the daily activities of referral, intake, staff and agency assignment and patient management. Additional responsibilities may include patient discharge teaching; on call nursing support; patient visits; nursing agency in-services and other duties as required. Service delivery will occur in patients' home or alternate site per patients' request.

Primary Responsibilities:

Management and oversight of all nurses and allied staff, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of systems that support the delivery of patient care and the achievement of quality patient outcomes in all assigned Branches or areas
Manages employees through establishing performance goals, allocating resources, and reviewing policies for the department, including but not limited to performance evaluations, supervisory visits and performance management counseling
Provides direction and support in the development of professional and allied staff, serving as a clinical resource to field staff, exercising considerable judgement, problem-solving skills, and professional knowledge
Collaborates with the Regional DON, and General Manager in the application of nurse staffing models and processes that facilitate achievement of Branch clinical, financial and performance improvement goals
Serves as the DON and or Administrator of the Home Health Agency (HHA) in branches with state-specific regulatory requirement for HHA (or equivalent) licensure
Participates in nursing leader orientation and training, serving as a clinical educator and resource to the nursing and allied staff
Ensures adherence with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations in all states in the service area in which patients are serviced
Assists in internal and external audits
Identifies and provides guidance to nursing in solving work-unit and operational gaps that impact patient care, such as those involving supplies, medications, equipment, and information
Provides oversight and guidance in the use of quality improvement processes and tools to assess performance and to identify and resolve gaps between local and best practices
Evaluates audit findings and applies insights to drive continuous performance improvement in clinical care
Analyzes, evaluates, plans, and executes on existing and proposed nursing initiatives and strategies
Provides and/or reinforces education on nursing process, patient-related therapies, and job-aid tools, in addition to supporting the advancement of company initiatives and strategies within the branch
Assists the Regional DON in benchmarking criteria to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of nursing programs
Participates in the collection and reporting of quality data, researches employee/patient grievances and participates in the management of Branch emergencies (actual and planned drills)
Participates in the review of organization-wide policies, protocols, job aides and other resources to support the delivery of quality patient care
Prepares periodic reports for management as required
Participates in various internal committees as requested
Coaches, mentors, and elevates the nursing organization's ability to deliver and exceed patient/customer expectations
Participates in the hiring of nursing staff and allied personnel
Ensures effective onboarding and orientation of new field staff and allied personnel
Works collaboratively with external Home Health Agencies
Maintains and develops professional competency through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations
Drives personal/rental vehicle (per travel policy) in the completion of job duties, including (but not limited to) travel to the assigned Branch/Ambulatory Infusion Suite (AIS) offices; patient homes as needed for supervisory visits; area hospitals; physician offices; and home health agency offices

Bachelor's degree in Nursing. (Graduates of accredited diploma or associate nursing programs may be considered with equivalent professional experience.)
Active and unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the states of Washington and/or Oregon
5+ years of RN experience in management
3+ years of RN experience in a related specialty, such as the pharmaceutical industry, ambulatory infusion, or critical/emergency care
Experience working with a cross-functional team of professionals including dietitians, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, nurses, case managers, discharge planners, physicians, outside nursing agencies, patients, families, and caregivers
Knowledgeable regarding compliance, regulatory, performance improvement and state/federal requirements/regulations
Willing or ability to travel up to 1- 2 times per month including within the local/regional market -


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in home infusion preferred, hospital/home health care environment
Pediatric Infusion experience (Hospital, Infusion Suite, Home settings)
Experience with nurse staffing processes and management, including oversight of a large (15+) nursing and ancillary staff member team
Experience with acute and chronic infusion therapies
Experience in an ambulatory infusion suite setting
Clinical leadership in home infusion therapy
Knowledge regarding state regulations pertaining to home health licensure
Knowledge of the Infusion Nursing Society (INS) standards of practice, policies, and procedures


Washington Residents Only: The salary range for Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300.
