Job Description:
Legacy Health, a respected leader in healthcare with a network
encompassing six hospitals and numerous clinics across Oregon and
Washington, seeks a dedicated Comparative Medicine Technician II to
join our Veterinary Health team. This role is pivotal in providing
expert care and management of laboratory animals in a research
setting, ensuring compliance with ethical regulations. The
successful candidate will work closely with researchers and
veterinary staff to manage the welfare of animals used in
scientific research, contributing significantly to groundbreaking
medical advancements. Oversee daily health monitoring of laboratory
animals and report any signs of illness or distress. Administer
treatments and medications as prescribed by the veterinary staff.
Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and
outcomes. Assist in the setup and implementation of research
studies, including handling and restraining animals as needed.
Ensure the cleanliness and proper sanitation of animal housing and
laboratory facilities. Comply with all local, state, and federal
regulations regarding laboratory animal care. Participate in staff
meetings and continuing education opportunities to enhance
professional growth and expertise in laboratory animal science.
Proficient in animal handling and restraint techniques. Strong
understanding of animal welfare and regulatory guidelines. Ability
to maintain detailed records. Excellent observational and
communication skills. Capability to administer treatments
accurately and compassionately. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance
Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certified Veterinary
Technician (CVT) preferred. AALAS certification at the Laboratory
Animal Technician level (LAT) or higher recommended.
