Job Description:

Under general supervision, the Barista is responsible for expediting coffee-espresso drinks and related food and beverage items; handles food according to HACCP guidelines; is aware of minimum standards for a quality food service operation; interacts with customers and other employees in a friendly and courteous manner.

1. *Prepares espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes.
2. *Enters orders accurately into the POS device, accepts cash and charge payments.
3. *Required to replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining
cleanliness of service area.
4. *Responsible for ensuring proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper
serving temperatures follows HACCP standard.
5. *Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
6. *Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes and in following prescribed
production standards.
7. *Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service as assigned.
8. *Cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments.
9. *Greets customers courteously and interacts in a manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
Relays relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors.
10. *Serves customers quickly, efficiently and does not allow back-ups or snags in serving lines.
11. *Demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items and explains same to customers
12. *Checks to ensure that all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards. Serve
food neatly and attractively per standard.
13. *Develops a positive working relationship.
14. *An advocate of selling techniques by establishing communication, obtaining product
knowledge, and assisting in the buying decision.
15. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
* Denotes Essential Job Function MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Follow instructions using structured process and procedures;
Identify and work with appropriate tools/equipment;
Flexibility of schedule changes, work duration, and task assignments;
Ability to work collaboratively with management, employees, customers, vendors and demonstrate good customer service;
Ability to work with and around electrical and mechanical equipment, sharp utensils, slick floors,
hot steam and water;
Ability to comply with safety programs and practices;
Customer service skills that include greeting patrons in a courteous manner; provide professional responses to questions that relate to the operations of business; assist or direct customers to appropriate areas or personnel;
Help customers with special needs.

High School Diploma or GED

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED: The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:
Food Handler's Permit

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical
demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
Maneuvering in and around the worksite
Standing and walking
Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping
Grasping both small & large objects
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most work is primarily performed indoors in a cafeteria setting with exposure to various background noise which includes equipment, customers, and others working. Must be able to work mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
