Job Description:
Develop and coordinate the promotion, marketing and sales of
non-prescription over-the-counter (OTC) medications and
health-related supplies provided to customers via KP Pharmacies.
Develop, implement and oversee inventory management practices for
controlled and legend drugs to ensure asset protection while
maintaining safe and effective storage and handling to meet all
regulatory and compliance measures. Provide oversight and direction
in the technical aspects of pharmaceutical care and intravenous
pharmaceutical compounding, in collaboration with the healthcare
team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, recommend, coordinate and oversee the implementation
and execution of innovative and effective marketing and product
promotion strategies for OTC medications, sundries and
health-related supplies and products available for purchase in KP
Pharmacies to increase sales to a predefined percentage of revenue.
Serve as a liaison to multiple departments within and outside of
pharmacy services to organize and coordinate pharmacy inventory in
a cost effective manner; develop, implement and evaluate ongoing
design and workflow changes that improve the productivity, service
and resource utilization. Maintain sound asset management practices
and routinely communicate the importance of asset accountability.
Coordinate and evaluate area-wide programs and projects as assigned
e.g. quality improvement, quality assurance, member service, etc.
Assist in implementation and execution of programs to enhance
inventory management and ensure effective product strategies
consistent with department and program goals, objectives,
strategies and missions. Coordinate smooth transitions of new
products, formulary product changes, backorders, recalls, shortages
and discontinued products. Manages data-tracking strategies and
technologies.
- Communicate with pharmacy and other department managers and
staff to build positive working relationships and assist in
coordinating effective and timely departmental operations. Monitor
and sustain pharmacy services in compliance with state and federal
laws, all regulatory bodies, established quality standards and
organizational service standards. Assist in the provision of
satisfying pharmacy services to all Kaiser Permanente members;
implement and monitor customer satisfaction measures. Personally
investigate, respond and resolve customer inquiries and concerns
within the location.
- Integrate and effectively coordinate location pharmacy services
with other departments, physicians, other health care professionals
and medical office/medical center administration; maintain a
productive, collaborative working relationship within the
department and the facility; identify and report issues; assist in
resolving such issues where appropriate. Develop and implement
programs that support the departments strategic plan and the
programs quality of care objectives and strategies.
- Provide high quality service and information in response to
customer inquiries. Appropriately and effectively influence
priorities of Pharmacy Services within the Regional Pharmacy
Department to achieve the mission and goals of the Department and
KPNW. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum five (5) years working in a Pharmacy health care
setting
Education
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED)
required
License, Certification, Registration
- This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials
from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional
Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post
hire.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (Washington) within 6 months
of hire
- Pharmacy Technician License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate within 6 months of hire
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training
program OR minimum of three (3) years of the required five years
experience must be as a Pharmacy Technician
- Demonstrated success in team development, process development
and ongoing process assessment
- Demonstrated success in managing/supporting change processes
within workgroups
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in project management,
decision making, creativity/innovation, customer service, problem
solving (analysis), results orientation, group presentations, group
facilitation, influence (lead and motivate others) and
training
- Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written
communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel,
Access)
- Knowledge of retail merchandising, profit center management,
financial analysis and inventory management
- Ability to travel frequently within the Northwest Region
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in product procurement, warehousing, inventory
management, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Continuous
Replenishment (CRP)
- Experience handling difficult encounters and/or service
breakdowns
- Bachelors degree in a healthcare related field preferred
- Thorough knowledge of organized healthcare systems, clinic
operations and Kaiser Permanente Northwest organizational
structure
- Proven organization skills/abilities; ability to support
implementation of departmental and organizational process changes,
policies and procedures, and audits
