Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION * Ensures all safety requirements are followed for the crew including the wearing of required PPE. * Works to meet production standards and delay goals as set by the department head. * Establishes and maintains positive daily communications with the roller. * Staffs, directs and trains crew members while ensuring the contract is followed, company rules are enforced, and discipline is applied when necessary with consistency and fairness. * Meets with maintenance and mill managers daily. Utilizes set-up sheet feedback to communicate with general foreman on regular basis. * Monitors production needs to ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available when needed. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS * Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. * Must possess strong multi tasking and organizational skills. * Must possess the ability to direct the work of subordinate staff, to train, and to apply problem solving skills for conflict resolution or issues arising in the finishing area * Strong knowledge of the production environment including operations and plant logistics. * Strong knowledge of materials and equipment applicable to the finishing area. * Proficiency with computer software programs such as Word and Excel and ability to learn and effectively use any other software specific to CSRM. * Compliance with all safety guidelines including the wearing of protective equipment. * Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Climbing frequently. Ascending or descending stairs and rail cars daily. * Stooping/kneeling/crouching frequently. To pick up parts or equipment. * Standing/walking continually. Within the manufacturing plant as well as outdoors. * Reaching frequently. To retrieve supplies, parts and equipment. * Pushing/pulling/lifting: continually. To move items within the manufacturing plant or outdoors. Lifting devices are used for items weighing over 50 pounds. * Grasping continually to gather supplies or to compile and assemble paperwork. * Repetitive motions of the hands/wrists/fingers frequently. To enter or retrieve data from the computer or to use tools, supplies and equipment in manufacturing. * Sitting occasionally USE OF SENSES * Talking in person/by telephone or two-way radio continually. To communicate with co-workers or supervisors to gather information or to give direction. * Hearing continually. To listen, in person and over the phone or two-way radio, and to understand despite loud mill environment. Ability to detect equipment malfunction or irregularities in tools or machinery. * Vision continually. To read either paperwork or information on a computer monitor. Good visual acuity necessary for safety reasons in a manufacturing environment and essential to ability to perform the duties of the job. * Smell continually. To detect irregularities or hazards such as gas, fire, smoke or fumes. * Touch continually. To use tools, equipment, parts and materials to perform the duties of the job. To enter or retrieve data from a computer. ENVIRONMENTAL Work is typically performed in a variety of environments including indoors, outdoors or in an industrial manufacturing setting. It may require the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds, and/or to lift/carry up to 20 pounds. A worker in this position will often be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as snow, rain, heat and/or plant conditions such as dust/dirt, noise and temperature extremes while performing job duties. PPE is required and will be provided to you by the company. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or GED required. Some college preferred. * 5+ years of relevant experience in an industrial environment including the supervision of employees.
