SUMMARY OF POSITION
The CNC Machinist, Tooling will work alongside experienced toolmaker(s) and be trained to learn the trade of a toolmaker. The position contributes to the production of medical devices by operating and performing basic set ups of CNC 3 and 4 Axis machines, with the ability to identify X, Y, Z and 0 coordinates. He/she is responsible for running multiple and varying CNC machines simultaneously, such as Lathes, EDM Wire, Plunge, and CMM machines in addition to operating manual machine tools to cut, drill, shape, and finish quality products with minimal or no supervision. Experience in CNC machining across multi-axis or multiple CNC machines, in a manufacturing work environment required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Work from models and drawings to support modular tooling concepts
• From customer blueprints, determine change impact on tooling and fixturing
• Perform die making tasks including: Machining, polishing, assembly, inspection and cleaning
• Convey tooling requirements to vendors using CAD models and drawings
• Obtain input on Tooling concepts from Vendors and review quotations
• Monitor tool performance with input from Wax Department Supervisor
• Create purchase orders to request supplies and place work with suppliers
• Work with other employees on cost savings ideas
• Work with CMM Programmer and dimensional inspectors to inspect dies and fixtures
• Layout, rework and reverse engineer tooling required given a sample part or model
• Rework legacy tooling for straightening reduction
• Manage tool repair and tool cleaning process
• Create cooling bars and maintain CB inventory
• Define PM schedule for equipment and ensure maintenance work orders are completed
• Regularly update/revise Tooling manual to ensure best practices are in place
• Report tooling status, project proposals and project plans to management
• Support lean manufacturing and EHS initiatives
• Perform other related duties as directed or assigned.
• Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  
  WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  
  WORK EXPERIENCE
  2+ Years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment (Required), Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing (Preferred), Lean manufacturing experience (Preferred)
  
  EDUCATION
  High School Or Equivalent Required, , , Associates - Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or Related Field
  
  CERTIFICATIONS
  Machining - Trade School
