Recommended experience includes an PhD, MD MPH or related degree, in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Clinical research, Psychophysics, Patient adherence, and/or Health promotion.We are looking for someone that learns quickly, is personable, has strong problem-solving skills, and can work both independently and as part of a team. To learn more about Dr. Mansberger's research visit: Mansberger - Scientists - Legacy HealthResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Staff Scientist: conducts research in collaboration with principal investigator(s) and research teams; exercises initiative to manage individual research projects and independent design and execution of experiments; may assist PI(s) in supervising subordinate staff to assist with research projects; contributes to meeting regulatory compliance (e.g., IACUC, IBC, IRB) and to the compilation of regulatory protocols; designs and conducts experiments and evaluates methods and protocols for research projects; analyzes, summarizes, and organizes collected data, in collaboration with the PI, and produces polished presentations of first-authored meeting abstracts with little or no PI input; publishes results of investigations in professional journals as first author; works with a high level of independence; proposes and submits independent funding submissions to federal and non-federal sources; offers advice and brings expertise to the research team; oversees the scientific operations of the laboratory; encourages teamwork and collaboration across the laboratory. QualificationsEducation:PhD, MD, related degree, or clearly demonstrated equivalent experience. Experience: The Assistant Staff Scientist is considered to serve as an intermediary position between postdoctoral fellow and independent research scientist. Because the expectation is that the postdoctoral position be limited to a term typically of 2 to 4 years, this position provides the opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow (or person with equivalent experience) to progress to a higher level of research responsibility. Skills: Demonstrated competence in investigation, research design, research conduct and project management. Theoretical and technical knowledge of the research subject matter; understands the scientific method and demonstrates the ability to independently form hypotheses; has high degree of technical skills; designs and performs experiments; analyzes and interprets data; develops new techniques and ability to conduct bench or clinical research with minimal supervision; knowledge of computers and data analysis methods; ability to summarize and present research data; produces polished presentations of first-authored meeting abstracts that require only modest principal investigator editing; writes first-authored papers for submission to peer-review journals; can present and explain research to both technical and lay audiences.
