The Mold Maker will construct, alter, and repair injection molds which are essential to OptiMIM's manufacturing processes. Will provide support to daily molding, secondary operations fixtures, and dies as necessary.

Essential Duties :

Repairs tools from blueprint and 3D files. (55%)

Plans and manages the layout operations to construct, alter, and repair a wide variety of complicated tools, fixtures, and dies. (30%)

Works on injection molding tools. Works on new or prototype injection molds. (10%)

Additional projects may be assigned by the Tool Room Supervisor or Tool Room/Engineering Manager. (5%)

Experience and Qualifications:

2-year certificate from college or technical school and 3 years mold making experience, or 7 years' experience building and or repairing precision injection molds, or equivalent combination of education/knowledge/experience.

Proficient with MasterCam.

Proficient with precision measuring tools.

Must have own tools and measuring equipment.

Proficient reading blueprints & utilizing 3D files for repairs and builds.

Skilled use of all standard tool room equipment with an emphasis on precision grinding skills.

Ability to run Wire EDM a plus.

Effective written and verbal communication skills to write emails, work instructions, routine reports and speak effectively before groups of people.

Mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

PC skills to draft emails, record information, complete reports, etc.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet business needs.

Physical Demands :

Ability to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear and frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment :

Work is primarily in a tool room setting located in a manufacturing plant with some work regularly performed on the factory floor. As such, the job may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a plant environment, including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.

OptiMIM promotes a drug-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing.
