Job Description:
Overview:As a CNC Programmer I, this position is responsible for
developing CNC programs for standard production run with the
ability to program complex parts, which include prototypes and
never before produced parts during new product development and
custom orders. Develops programs using a combination of CAD, CAM,
and related software.Responsibilities:Works from Engineering CAD
files of new designs or revisions to current designs, in order to
develop accurate, efficient, and safe CNC programs. Primarily
responsible for coding standard production part programs and first
run parts related to new product development and special
orders.Revises and updates programs for improvement and is
responsible for updating all changes made in programs submitted by
operators. Sets up file saving procedures and monitors files to
ensure accurate storage.Responsible for research, including tool
technology, tests for quality, and assists in the selection of
special CNC supplies and tooling necessary in the assigned area.
Also maintains and updates CAM and Inventor files for special
tooling as required.Provides production documentation to assist in
the set-up and run of CNC machines and machining centers. Ensures
that current Engineering revisions are in place and complies with
policies and procedures that are appropriate for the
department.Provides training to CNC operators to fully utilize the
necessary hardware and software, and may provide technical training
on machinery in the area.Must continually upgrade programming
knowledge for self-development and must remain current with all
phases of technology connected to programming and machining.Works
directly with Tooling or Maintenance personnel, Engineers,
Manufacturing Engineers, ME Techs, and other Programmers to develop
methods, initiate corrective action, diagnose and correct machine
or fixture issues, and provide input on Design For
Manufacturability (DFM).Achieves and maintains quality and
productivity standards, maintains acceptable dependability level,
and follows established safety guidelines.Actively engages and
participates in department continuous improvement efforts. Leads
implementation on improvements to processes, programs, tooling, and
fixturing.Actively participates in all department, quarterly, and
company meetings.Qualifications:Generally requires approximately
2-4 years of machine center and/or CNC machine operation
experience, which may include CNC programming, set up, and
operation (or equivalent training), experience working with
appropriate software, and must understand and apply complex math
skills in programming operations.Knowledge of CAM software should
include the ability to produce usable code for the required
machinery type control and application.Ability to perform advanced
machining and fabrication tasks, ability to inspect assigned work,
including first article inspection.Demonstrated ability to
interpret complex blueprints, rough drawn sketches, CAD/CATIA and
Inventor files.Working knowledge of GD&T to develop programs
and other related documentation, where applicable.Demonstrates
behaviors and attitudes that emphasize and focus on permanent
resolutions to problems. Collaboratively works with other employees
within work group to achieve goals. Ability to effectively
communicate work information, both orally and in
writing.Demonstrates the ability to manage time and resources
effectively.Demonstrates understanding of Lean Manufacturing
principles.Knowledge of ISO procedures.A background check and
