We are seeking a Systems or Software Engineer to join the Range
Instrumentation Support (RIS) team, to support the X-Band
Transportable Radar (XTR-1) on the Pacific Tracker currently
berthed in Portland, OR. In this position, you will have the
opportunity to work with a team responsible for deploying,
maintaining, troubleshooting, and integrating system upgrades to
support our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer, with at-sea
deployments totaling up to 3 - 4 months each year. This is a great
position for an entry level willing to learn a new career
field.
Responsibilities:
You will have the responsibility to support Operations, Maintenance
and System Administrator roles to provide Cyber Security. Your
specific duties will include:
You will participate in the full Engineering Lifecycle of range
instrumentation systems, including requirements gathering,
generation and maintenance of requirements, design, development,
test, integration, validation and verification and mission
support.
You will primarily help maintain and operate the Operations and
maintenance of the XTR radar system to include working on high
powered transmitters, receivers, modulators, timing and control
systems, cabling and the associated interconnects.
Use test equipment for testing and troubleshooting system
issues.
Working with schematic drawings, specifications and vendor
technical documentation related to electromechanical systems.
System administrator responsibilities of Linux Red Hat Enterprise
and the ability to backup / restore and update the many Linux
servers that make up the real-time radar control system.
Work with customer to develop data collection requirements for test
events.
Develop system documentation to include but not limited to standard
operating procedures, network drawings, etc.
Job location is on a ship (both in port and at sea) and the
candidate must be able to work in that environment and be capable
of climbing to perform maintenance on the antenna if required.
This position will require sailing with the Pacific Tracker any
time it leaves Portland, OR for mission support. Mission schedules
vary and could require up to four (4) deployments in a year that
each last approximately four (4) weeks.

You have a BS degree in an Engineering or Scientific field, and a
minimum of 5+ years of general related work experience with
instrumentation systems
You have a valid Security+ certification or DoD Directive 8570.01
IAT Level II certification; may consider ability to obtain
certification within 90 days of hire.
You have a valid DoD Directive 8570.01 Computing Environment (CE)
Certification; may consider ability to obtain certification within
90 days of hire.
You have experience with Windows and/or Linux systems
administration.
You have or have the ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Security
Clearance or higher; an active and current clearance is required
for this position.
You possess knowledge and experience with one or more of the
following Systems that you will be supporting on XTR:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Performing RF measurements using conventional power meters and
sensors.
Operating antenna servo systems
Processed cooling water systems to include pumps, expansion tanks,
flow and pressure meters and filters.
Perform monopulse tracks and calibration.
High voltage transmitter equipment (45,000VDC)
Rockwell Automated Software and Allen Bradley Programmable Logic
Control systems experience.

Are able to configure and troubleshoot Ethernet switches and
networks
Have experience with MATLAB
Have ability to help with logistics, property, COMSEC, and security
issues
Are self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as

Possess strong written and oral communication skills, as well as
strong listening skills
Are demonstrably able to mentor teammates and support customers in
presentation and/or briefing environments
Have ability to work in a team environment, can socialize ideas,
make recommendations, and gather team consensus to move forward
Have the flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules
and priorities
