Content + Messaging Specialist
Full Time
In-Office in Oxford, MS, or Hybrid in Memphis/North MS
This specialist leads our team in crafting the central message and narrative for each client. As a skilled interviewer, copywriter and editor, this team member brings the client's story to life and connects with audiences through original, high-quality content creation.
The right candidate for this position will also bring an eagerness to learn and incorporate emerging AI tools in the writing process. He or she will embrace the challenge of learning how generative AI will help writers work smarter, not harder. This role must also demonstrate the value of original and people-first content within a modern marketing-communications strategy.

YOUR ROLE
Can you:

• Distill the ideas and opinions of multiple stakeholders into concise, on-point briefs that ring true to everyone involved?
• Lead engaging interviews with busy, successful clients to efficiently capture their quotes, tone and expertise?
• Express not only what an organization is and does, but also what makes it unique and gives it flavor?
• Simplify complicated verbiage into language that's plain and clear?
• Expand general ideas into content that is interesting and actionable?
• Adapt your writing style to match a wide variety of client industries and media types?
• Tell an interesting story and reveal a brand's message at the same time?
• Write original website content that drives engagement for news outlets, social-media feeds, search bots - and real-world human beings? - Do you:

    • Running interviews with individuals and groups in new-client discovery and initial narrative creation.
    • Building out relevant industry research and foundational brand briefs for other team members to follow.
    • Working with other team members to plan website strategy and site maps.
    • Writing copy for websites, including connecting narrative flow with SEO strategy.
    • Writing stories under a client's brand for use on website blogs and in news releases.
    • Writing client narratives and messaging to shape how our team communicates about a brand.
    • Writing scripts for podcasts or videos. REQUIREMENTS
      • Five or more years' professional experience in writing, editing, journalism or similar fields
      • Portfolio that demonstrates skill and experience in all the above criteria
      • Excellent ability to listen well and perceive information from different perspectives
      • Excellent command of the English language
      • Ability to solve problems, and to work and learn independently
