Find your future with us.Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for Gear Cutting Machine Operators to join our team in Portland, OR.An operator will completely and independently set up, operate, program, adjust, prep work (lap), edge break, prior to machining, etc., assigned gear cutting and gear shaping machines to rough cut and finish machine to quality requirements and specification anything the machines are, or may be, adapted to machine.Position Responsibilities:

• Use any and all precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools, etc., necessary to set up machines and/or check machined parts for finish and dimensions.
• Select and secure proper tools, fixtures, machine attachments, equipment, etc., to expeditiously accomplish assigned work, and as required, devise and make precision checking fixtures to check own work.
• Work with and interpret charts, tables, blueprints, solid model definition, sketches, handbook formulas, verbal orders, job layouts, etc., and use shop mathematics.
• Perform bench work necessary to complete machine operations.
• Follow manufacturing operations (MO) plan.
• Responsible for communicating process improvements to manufacturing plan through proper processes and procedures.
• Responsible for full utilization of machine capability and minimizing the amounts of machining and/or number of setups.
• Use and adjust feed of oils and coolants.
• Check coolant/oil for concentration and levels.
• Responsible for full utilization of machine capabilities and minimizing the amounts of machining and numbers of setups.
• Detect faulty tools and replace same.
• Set up, operate and adjust gear cutting and testing machines, including broaching as required.
• Perform the necessary calculations and layout to ensure proper setting of machines for pitch meters, spacing, root angles, etc. to engineering and quality specifications/requirements.This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience in gear cell machining/cutting
  • Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds
  • 5+ years of experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • 5+ years of experience using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators, etc.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
