Our client, a local nonprofit, is seeking an experienced
Compensation and Benefits Specialist to join their team in a
temp-to-hire basis. This individual will support the Total Rewards
function with a focus on compensation structure, benefit
administration, and union-related matters. Multilingual candidates
and those with experience in union environments are highly
encouraged to apply.
*Type: *Contract-to-Hire
*Duration of Contract: *3 - 6 months / potential to convert to FTE
based on performance and organizational alignment
*Pay: *$38.00 - 46.00 hourly, DOE
*Work Model: *Hybrid - 3-days onsite - Portland, Oregon
*Responsibilities of the Compensation & Benefits Specialist: *
* Administer and maintain compensation programs, ensuring alignment
with internal policies and market competitiveness.
* Conduct job evaluations and salary benchmarking using various
compensation tools.
* Manage benefits administration, including open enrollment,
broker/vendor coordination, and employee support.
* Oversee retirement plan administration (403(b) and 401(k)) and
maintain compliance with plan requirements.
* Support union-related compensation and benefits processes,
including interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.
* Collaborate on high-impact projects such as compensation
structure refreshes and benefits renewals.
* Provide data analysis, reporting, and insights to support Total
Rewards strategies.
* Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS; experience with UKG
Ready is a plus.
* Assist with general HR support as needed within the Total Rewards
team.
*Qualifications of the Compensation & Benefits Specialist: *
* 3+ years of experience in both compensation and benefits
administration.
* Proven experience working in a unionized environment.
* Knowledge of Kaiser medical benefits and retirement plan
compliance.
* Familiarity with compensation benchmarking tools and HRIS systems
(UKG Ready preferred).
* Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal
skills.
* Multilingual skills preferred.
* Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with 3 days/week
in-office presence.
