Resource Innovations is seeking an Energy Engineer to provide technical services to various North West utility programs. As an Energy Engineer with Resource Innovations, you will be responsible for providing customers with the support and tools necessary to identify, quantify and deliver cost-effective energy-efficiency projects. We are searching for the right mix of leadership, technical ability, and interpersonal skills to educate and inspire energy-saving actions. This position will be a remote position ideally located in the greater Portland, Oregon metro area.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Delivers excellent customer service to customers (commercial and industrial customers, utility clients, and program staff)
  • Performs energy audits at customer facilities to identify, measure, and verify energy efficiency measures.
  • Provides timely technical and program feedback, listens to customer needs, sets expectations appropriately, and delivers what is promised.
  • Champions energy efficiency (projects and the approach) through the identifying barriers and proposing innovative solutions
  • Supports Resource Innovations utility programs under the direction of the Office Head or Program Administrator to achieve program energy savings goals
  • Produces high quality deliverables (reports and spreadsheets) with limited QC review
  • Fosters and maintains excellent client relationships
  • Solicits feedback, advocates change, and implements solutions
  • Other duties as assigned
    • Bachelors or masters degree in mechanical engineering or similar field of study is required.
    • A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and principals including: HVAC and refrigeration, thermal and fluid systems, motors, lighting and/or other commercial and/or industrial systems
    • Knowledge and experience in the following areas is a plus:
      • Calculation of energy savings for commercial HVAC and/or industrial process energy efficiency improvements
      • Design and specification of HVAC, electrical, building automation/controls
      • Commissioning and/or retro-commissioning test procedures, schematic diagrams, and system specifications
      • Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (e.g. DOE-2, eQuest, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, ECAM)
      • Direct to customer outreach and project development
      • Proposal Writing
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets
      • Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills
      • Ability to effectively distill and convey complex ideas into concise conversation/emails
      • Comfortable managing projects and workflows with variable levels of ambiguity
      • Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment
      • Must be able to travel locally (nationally or internationally) up to approximately 20% of the time.
        Preferred Qualifications And Experience
        • P.E. in mechanical engineering and/or CEM certification are desirable
        • Previous experience within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry preferred
        • Ability to safely and correctly install 1-Phase and 3-Phase electrical measurement equipment on systems up to 460V
