AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) is seeking a professional civil engineer to work as a Consultant Project Manager for the City of Salem. The position will be based in our Keizer, Oregon office. The focus of this position is to lead the development of a wide variety of public works capital improvement projects, both large and small, for the City of Salem. You will be integrated into the City of Salem's project delivery team on a full-time basis working closely and directly with senior engineering managers in the City of Salem's Public Works Department. In addition, you will maintain a relationship with and communicate regularly with AKS leadership in the Keizer office. This opening is ideal for an experienced registered professional with public works experience who can take the lead on design and independently manage projects.Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• 20+ years of experience delivering civil engineering public works capital improvement projects
• BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree (required)
• Oregon Civil Engineer's License (required)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project
• Project experience with local and/or state agencies in Oregon
• Knowledge and familiarity with local codes and agency standards
• Extensive experience and training in project management for municipal capital improvement projects
• Basic understanding of financial reports, solid time management, and follow-through skills, and the proven ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team with a positive, flexible approach
• Strong written and oral communication skills including proposal and report writing
• Takes personal responsibility for completing quality work within budgets and timelines
• Ability to work quickly, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and organized
• Possess a valid US driver's licenseJob Functions & Responsibilities: The focus of this position is to provide project management services for a variety of public works projects for one of Oregon's largest public works departments. Working with a City of Salem Senior Engineer, the following tasks will be assigned:
  • Manage and be responsible for all components of the project from concept development through construction and start-up
  • Develop and manage project scope to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Coordinate and manage projects with the client's senior leaders and staff
  • Oversee site and infrastructure design per county/city standards, maintaining good communication with the planning/engineering staff of the jurisdiction to minimize future changes and misunderstandings
  • Select and lead the design team that will develop preliminary and final plans and specifications
  • Lead and actively participate in developing public sector requests for proposals for both design and construction
  • Provide QA/QC review of deliverables
  • Manage, supervise and provide technical leadership for engineering staff and project design team
  • Actively participate in weekly City of Salem Project Management Meetings
  • Drive a personal vehicle to City offices, job sites and meetings in various locations
