Function/Duties of Position
- Interviews, hires new employees, and manages the performance
appraisal process for all transport staff. - Provides orientation
to staff. Evaluates and manages performance of staff in accordance
with the bargaining unit agreements and personnel rules. - Resolves
grievances and other personnel problems within position
responsibilities.
- Evaluates personnel and multi-shift job performance of staff. -
Coordinates assignments of staffing needs and make adjustments as
needed. - Assist the manager with mandatory training in body
mechanics and proper lifting techniques, along with departmental
annual core competencies. Maintaining monthly scheduling and
overseeing time off requests for a 24/7 operation. - Maintains
records for all departmental mandatory education requirements and
employee health immunizations. -
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as JCAHO,
OHSU, and mandatory departmental competencies. - Assist the manager
in developing and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory
requirements.
- Oversees and coordinates daily activity including the
delegation of special assignments to staff as needed. - Develops
staff schedules. Oversees electronic VIP transportation dispatch
system, including application upgrades, training, and
implementation.
- Supports and coordinates with unit HUCS, and ancillary
departments to resolve transportation scheduling conflicts. - Works
with unit charge nurses in order to identify and resolve
transportation issues that may arise, coordinates or improves
services offered to assist in planning new services. Coordinates
the assignments of tasks and helps resolve operation problems. -
Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure department goals are
achieved. - Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership
over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation and fosters
the effective integration of efforts with system-wide
initiatives.
- Establishes quality and productivity metrics; measures,
monitors, and reports quality and productivity outcomes on daily,
monthly, or annual basis as required.
- Participates as a leader, facilitator, and/or member of
management meetings /committees, and other organization-wide
meetings
- Creates a positive climate for organizational change
initiatives
- Acts as an internal and external role model in supporting,
promoting, and adhering to OHSU's mission, vision, philosophy, and
Code of Conduct.
- Communicates in a respectful non-blaming manner to assure
intra- and inter-departmental cooperation and problem
solving.
- Adheres to and assures compliance, within scope of
responsibility, with OHSU Code of Conduct, OHSU policies, rules and
regulations
- Performs staff member requirements as outlined in the
Compliance Section of the Core Competencies
- Incorporates the principles of OHSU Mission Statement into
performance
Required Qualifications
5 years' experience with a HS diploma: High school diploma/GED plus
5 years of work experience in any combination of healthcare,
project management, quality improvement, clinical field, or
equivalent experience; 2 of those years must include 2 years lead
or supervisory experience.
Two years of work experience in a management or leadership
position
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
Outlook. -
Demonstrated written and verbal proficiency with English
language.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position
with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Previous experience in management or leadership position with
responsibility for managing staff, including performance
management.
