OverviewWHPacific, Inc., d/b/a NV5 is seeking a Survey Field
Technician to join our Meridian team NV5 is a leader in providing
surveying, civil engineering (transportation roadway & bridge and
land development), water resources and planning services with
multiple offices in the Western United States. The person in this
position assists professional land surveyors by operating survey
instruments and collecting information in the field and by
performing computations and drafting in the office. This is
primarily a field Survey Technician Position but could also involve
some substantial related duties in the office including Civil3D /
MicroStation mapping.Responsibilities
- Performs field labor related to performing all types of
surveys, including land boundary, topographic mapping, right of way
and corridor surveys, hydrographic surveys, and control
surveys.
- Accurately run and adjust survey measuring instruments
including Digital Levels, RTK/Static GPS/GNSS equipment, Robotic
Total Stations, Terrestrial Scanners & Data Collectors.
- Perform some office duties, i.e., data reduction, field note
reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using
Civil3D, MicroStation, and Trimble Business Center. Will also need
moderate skills in map drafting and production of survey
deliverables.
- Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field
data.
- Takes accurate and clear notes and performs note
reduction.
- Reads and understands plans and specifications.
- Know basic sources of measurement errors.
- Know principles of monumentation, PLSS corner restoration
records, staking and marking.
- The employee will adhere to the company's policies, safety plan
and the project safety plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this
job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

- A high school education or equivalent is required, including a
background in math, geometry and trigonometry.
- 2+ years experience in the use of Trimble Total Stations, GPS
Receivers and Data Collectors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles of survey measurement,
staking and marking.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sources of measurement errors and
have thorough knowledge to perform analysis of survey data to
ensure completeness, accuracy and precision.
- MS Word and Excel experience required; experience utilizing
Civil3D is desired.
- Understanding of plans and specifications.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able and willing to travel and work in other cities and
remote areas.
- Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential
requirements.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather.
- Must represent WHPacific professionally and in a positive way
with clients and the general public.
- Valid Drivers License required; must be able to meet company
insurability requirementsPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands

to walk on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hike up
and down steep slopes carrying up to 50 pounds of survey equipment,
bend, squat, dig monument holes, pound in stakes and rebar
monuments, carry and use brush cutting equipment, operate UTVs /
ATVs, climb stairs, sit for extended periods of time, work at a
computer terminal for extended periods of time, and type/key-in
data as needed. The employee will be required to adhere to the
