Description

Maintenance Specialist

The Maintenance Specialist at Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) is responsible for general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. This is a full-time position that reports to the Agency Operations Manager.

PRIMARY Job responsibilities

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair and troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components; tests system competency and component devices and evaluates performance
  • Assists Agency Operations Manager in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommends approaches to preventative maintenance programs.
  • Repairs, maintains, and/or coordinates a variety of facilities systems, components and structures; repairs building plumbing, low-voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, sprinkler systems, sensors and related hardware and software; constructs and maintains indoor/outdoor facilities, fans, lights and related; conducts structural inspections for safety.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on agencys automotive vehicles; troubleshoots equipment problems and identifies when appropriate for external service provider to make repairs or perform warranty work.
  • Identifies repair and maintenance projects requiring the assistance of contractors or vendors; participates in estimates and evaluations of project costs; monitors work of vendors or contractors; assists in the review of new construction or remodel plans to assure compliance with facility maintenance standards.
  • Accesses and makes all levels of adjustments to computerized control systems, such as for lighting or energy management systems; and troubleshoots control system problems.
  • Maintains a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of facilities
  • Responds to emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all facilities are protected & remain operational. Assists with tasks required in preparing to open SEI facilities after a closure including snow and ice removal, systems & equipment checks & start-up operations as assigned.
  • Knows and understands all safety procedures of the Agency.
  • Maintains appropriate records and reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five years of facilities maintenance, construction, or repair experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
    • Responsible for making purchases on behalf of SEI, including requesting approval for purchases, making purchases, maintaining receipts and expense reports for daily transactions and monthly submission for all credit card transactions through credit card portal in a timely and accurate manner.
      • Accepts other appropriate duties/responsibilities as assigned by SEI management.
      • Must have current and valid drivers license. If using a vehicle for agency use: Must possess a current drivers license, access to a vehicle, qualify as an approved driver as designated in SEI's Insurance Motor Vehicle Guidelines; and maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage.

        Qualifications

        QUALIFICATIONS
        • Five years of facilities maintenance, construction, or repair experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
        • Two years of education or training, or an associate degree, in the facilities maintenance trades may substitute for two years of work experience.
        • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
        • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
        • Must have excellent coordination skills with the ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines, some evening and weekend work is required
        • Must be a team player and able to work with many different people effectively
        • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
        • Must have current and valid state drivers license, in good standing with no insurability restrictions and
        • Must be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
        • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
        • Must be a team player.
        • Ability to use personal initiative and cooperation in performing job duties.
        • Must have current and valid state drivers license, in good standing with no insurability restrictions and must be insurable under SEIs auto insurance policy.
