Ship Repair Chief Estimator

Job Summary:
This position will assist the Director of Estimating in managing the Ship Repair Estimating Department and develop/maintenance the ship repair estimating systems, standards and procedures.



Responsibilities:

- Ensure production of timely, accurate and complete estimates and bid submittals

- Review, analyze, and select major subcontractors and supplier quotes

- Complete any specified Technical Proposals, required submittals, and the Master Estimate and Bid Summary Sheet

- Manage all communications with Vessel Owners and/or Owner's Naval Architect

- Participate in any required bidder's conferences and/or shipchecks

- Oversee bid reviews and modify estimate based on bid review comments

- Identify and communicate all estimate special requirements, problem areas, bonding, security, and compliance requirements

- Review contracts to ensure conformity to company requirements

- Ensure that Lessons Learned and historical production returns are reflected in bids.



Requirements:

- Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or college course work in Math, Physics, and/or Engineering

- At least 10 years of experience in ship repair production and/or ship repair estimating

- 5-10 years of management experience preferred

- Knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques

- Understanding of marine construction, marine terminology, and contracts

- Experience with cost/price analysis, bid analysis and market analysis
