What you will do:The Lab Technician evaluates Tillamook dairy products through senses of sight, smell, touch and taste produced at all locations, including co-manufacturers and co-packers. Performs data entry of information into LIMS and occasional correspondence via email.--Here s a day in the life:Grades and changes grade (positively release in LIMS/D365) all Tillamook branded cheeses.Conducts regular product evaluations; serves as product assessor, manages related inventory through data collection. Finished products to evaluate include cheese, ice cream, yogurt, sour cream, frozen novelties, cream cheese, butter, and others.Evaluates all Tillamook dairy products from co-manufacturers and co-packers according to the Tillamook Sampling Plan.Assists with descriptive sensory analysis, statistical analysis and writes technical briefs. Lead product cuttings/evaluations internally on assigned projects.Enters information into specialized database i.e. LIMS and D365 as needed.Execute product shelf life evaluations; Records findings of evaluation results in Excel or specialized databases; Manage related inventory through data collection.Review product on the line as requested by production, warehousing, or other.Performs all other duties as assigned as needed.Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.Ability to communicate effectively.Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.Must be computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. SharePoint is a plus. Experience with specialized database i.e. ERP systems such as LIMS/D365 is preferred. Ability to operate a forklift safely.--Knowledge, skills, and abilities:High School diploma or GED is required with up to 4 years experience, or 3 years experience with certification.1+ year experience in dairy sensory or working in a lab is preferred.Pre-work physical exam and sensory sensitivity testing are required.Forklift Certification.--Working conditions:Shared workstations including testing equipment and computer terminals. Generally quiet, temperature controlled, well lighted. May include walking on uneven, slippery surfaces and encountering forklift traffic. Requires standing majority of shift, working with chemicals, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces, stooping, bending and crouching and climbing ladders. Duties may include repetitive motion of hands and lifting up to 45 pounds.
