Job Description:
Clean Harbors seeks a dedicated Chemical Handler to join our
team, leveraging our reputation as a leader in the environmental
services sector across North America. This role is pivotal in
managing and handling chemicals and hazardous materials, ensuring
proper processing, storage, and disposal in accordance with
compliance and safety standards. The ideal candidate will actively
participate in sustaining our mission to protect the environment
through responsible handling of hazardous substances, contributing
to our broad range of services including waste disposal and
emergency spill responses. Safely transport, handle, and store
chemicals and hazardous materials according to all federal, state,
and local regulations and company policies. Maintain accurate logs
and records of chemical use, storage, and disposal to ensure
environmental compliance. Conduct regular inspections of storage
areas and containers to prevent leaks or other hazardous
conditions. Participate in emergency response teams, acting quickly
and effectively to contain and remediate spills. Collaborate with
environmental scientists, hazardous waste technicians, and other
professionals in managing environmental hazards. Attend and
participate in safety meetings and training sessions to remain
current on the latest industry standards and technologies.
Proficiency in handling and managing hazardous materials and
chemicals. Strong understanding of material safety data sheets
(MSDS) and hazard communication standards. Ability to use personal
protective equipment (PPE) and emergency spill containment
materials effectively. Skill in maintaining precise records and
attention to detail. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision
Insurance Life Insurance 401k OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and
Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification. DOT training for the
handling and transportation of hazardous materials.
